On the way to the Nashville filming of "Muscle Car", I entered the El Camino in a car show in our home-town of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. I had figured that it would be a good opportunity to visit with our families, get a few days rest, and to see and talk about some beautiful cars and trucks. I was right on all fronts. I also met up with one of our newer members, elcaminogeno, who lives about 30 miles south of Mammoth Spring, in Cave City. Elcaminogeno brought his 9 year-old Nephew to the show, and we had a great visit and discussion of crucks.
Sorry, Donny, but there were no fire trucks entered. A five-member team of "certified" judges judged the 60 to 70 car & truck entrants. My El Camino earned 1st Place in Classic Muscle, and the Peoples' Choice trophy. While both were complete surprises, the latter astounded me - an El Camino taking the "Peoples Choice" trophy, and with so much chrome showing on so many vehicles, too!
All-in-all, it was a very pleasing experience, and the visit with a fellow member who is mentoring his young nephew in the restoration of classic cars was very rewarding in it's own right. Just don't believe anything he says about how all those twenty dollar bills got into the judges' jar! .............Ken
