I'm going to purchase my first El Camino today, either a 67 or 68 but I don't want to spend too much. They want $11888.00 for the 67 and $10,800 for the 68. Both in # 3condition.

Any thoughts?

I like 68s better but it's what is going to make you happy. It needs to be near perfect for that price.

Do you have any more details about each? SS, motor, condition, etc. To me, without more info, can't tell on the price. But for those prices, I would think they both should be pretty much done and turn key.
They are two different body and interior styles. I have a third gen, but do like the second gens also.

SInce we're talkin' price, I'd like to tag on to this post . . I am a new member and plan to be the owner of a 3rd gen Elky in sometime in the not-too-distant future. As I began my search I talked to a few different owners regarding the advantages of purchasing a project car, vs. buying one already restored. After explaining that I have a limited knowledge of cars, most of the people I spoke with recommended I opt for a restored vehicle.

Unfortunately, the prices on 3rd gen Elky's seem to vary quite a bit. Can anyone point me to a good reference (i.e., buyer's guide) for Elkys? What should I expect to pay for a 3rd gen Elky? In what condition?

Thanks.
