: slow turn signal

My 82 El Camino has a problem with the turn signals (both sides) blinking a lot slower when the park lights or headlights are on than when they are off.
Would this likely be a ground problem or a flasher problem, or something else?:dontknow:

do they slow down even more if you step on the brake?
Could be low voltage (charging system) or possible the ground on the core support.

Check your charging system. When my volt gauge did not work that was my way of telling if my alternator was charging. If the turn signals were slow, it was discharging and if it was fast/regular speed I was OK.

well if you put new turn singles then it would blink slower. They blink faster once they will burn out. That how it is normally suppose to work. Kind of like a reminder to get a new one, but no one really get a new one till it burns out LOL :nanawrench:

464Elky,

No, stepping on the brake doesn't seem to have any effect on the signal speed, only when I turn on the lights.
I 'm going to check the grounds as I had someone else mention they thought that is the problem.
Thanks all you guys for your input.

Are the taillights grounded at the core support using the same wire that grounds the headlights or do they ground somewhere at the rear?

The parking lights are grounded to the core support. the tail lights are grounded up behind the rear bumper.
