So My tranny is crap and ive been screwed on a rebuild with it so im just gunna get a new tranny. I can get a new B&M tranny from my local parts place for about 700 buck, I have to get a new tourqe im figuring thats gunna be like 200 plus whatever other parts I need to get to install the tranny. The tranny is rated for 450 so it will def support my stock engine. My question is are B&M trannys worth it or should I look for a diffrent company? I have never had to purchase anything like this and yes they have decent name from what I can tell but hearing it from true car guys who have had them helps me more than an add in a magazine you know. So let me know whats the deal with them guys help me make the right choice and if you know of any other tranny company thats cheaper but are a good tranny builder can you let me know lol

Thankx guys

What tranny 350 400 700??? From what I have heard B&M is a player in the market. I have used TCI with great performance and results. I to learned from the local rebuild experts that they only sell a bill of goods and BS, not performance. Went to new or nearly new with a solid name and following that can tell you ie: the car guys using them and got what I wanted. So talk to every one you see about only the big name guys and see what you find out B&M, TCI, Pheonix, Bowtie Overdrive, etc. I found that the extra cost of these companies is really cheap if you don't break.

I personally don't care for the B&M, and their shift kits are nothing to speak about.
I PREFER the Trans-Go units, and if you do a GOOGLE on both of them for reviews, you will see why.
When I would get the 350s for my Customers, I would get them with the Trans Go kits installed. THE MAIN REASON WAS I DIDN'T want to have to do the job a second time
for free because or the B&M Trans. I had to stand behind my work, and you don't make money doing it more than once.
I always got mine from NOVAC. A little more money, but you get what you pay for.
http://www.novak-adapt.com/catalog/transmission_packages/th350_package.htm

They are in Logan Utah, and it only takes 2 days shipping.
They take all forms of payment even Pay Pal.
Great to work with, Great Tech Service, and great packages.
Just an Idea for your consideration, but about 200 dollars more.
To me, worth it for a MUCH BETTER PRODUCT, that in maybe
35 to 50 of them I've installed, and not one issue, it's my recommendation.
And others may have theirs, and you may still go with B&M. Good Luck.

OH and Ryan, if you want cheaper, check the Bone Yards in your area,
I'm sure they too will give you some type of warranty, and after you change
it three or four times, you might go someplace else.
Are you changing it yourself, or paying to have it changed?
If your having a Shop change it, see if they will stand behind it,
and do it again if it's bad, or will they charge you again.
(Bet he tells you he won't even if you get the B&M from him)
FOOD FOR THOUGHT IS ALL!!!

I stopped building them for myself quite a while ago (but might do the one for my current EL Camino project to remind myself why I send them out LOL). I've had pretty good luck with TCI untis also.

If you're having a shop install it Larry brings up a good point about customer provided parts. The policy of almost any shop I know (to include mine) is that if the customer provides the part and it's bad you pay again to have it removed and replaced. Just something to think about.

For the guys doing long term projects, here's something to keep in mind when considering buying a transmission even from one of the big name companies. If you buy it early in the project (mock up stage) it may sit around for a long period of time before you actually get a chance to to try it out. If you happen to have gotten one with problems (and it happens to even the big name companies) it may already be out of the warranty period before you even get fluid in it. It's the reason I usually leave the transmission to almost last in a project and use an old trans (or gutted case) for mockup.

Thankx for your guys input and larry Im def gunna check on that other company. I will be installing it myself as i need to save money. I def wanna just get a new trans I would love to find a cheap trans but I would rather go for performance. I have to save for it either way if I have to save a little longer to get a better performance tranny then im willing to wait I can make what I have work for me till I get it I just reconize the signs from the last time the dang thing went out on me.

Thankx again guys
