you might have shredded a gear in the tranny which will screw up your converter cus it will send metal into the fluid in the converter. You will most likely have to have your tranny rebuilt, I don't recommend getting your converter rebuilt plus you can get a good converter for about 200 bucks. Unless you need a beefyer converter then your loking between 200 and 400. The best thing to do is go to your local tranny shop and have them do a trans inspection. Some places wont charge you some will im not sure on the price cus that will vary for each shop. Good luck to you bro! Im going threw some tranny problems myself I hope what I have said has helped.

Thanks-for the advice-i started looking into how to rebuild a turbo 350-BOOK i think i will pass and put another 350 tranny but i will make sure to change fluids, filter and something i have never done is to drain the converter (the rivet trick) hopefully this tranny will serve me well.. oh front seal and rear seal-i hear its good practice. No more hotrodding-this guys is a cruiser onlyyyyy work truck.

The TH350 is a good transmission. Yours may be just hi-time and worn. They are the simplest transmission to over haul ( if you have a few special tools) Replacing the fore & aft seals on a used one is standard practice, and a good idea. You may also want to replace the tail-shaft bushing along with the rear seal, and an oil & filter change. Good luck

"No more hotrodding-this guys is a cruiser onlyyyyy work truck."........ Ohhhhh sure... You mean to tell me you have a 406 in your 75 and you will never ever again hot rod it? OK then...I'll believe you...do you believe I'm the frigging Easter Bunny? You wouldn't lie to the Easter Bunny would you? Hey since your sticking with a 3 speed automatic trans...why not consider a TH400...just it case your lying to the Easter Bunny!

Maybe look into a TCI or B&M trans. Not too bad pricewise when you concider a rebuild of the old stocker.:nanawrench:

I'm still wondering why automatic transmissions scare the bejesus out of otherwise savvy mechanics---its not like you have to invent the darn things---just repair what has been worn out or damaged....books are available and 90% of the work can be done with normal tool---most specialty ones can be fabricated or faked fairly easy...............Dan

I've been running a TH350 behind my much-modified 406 for years with ever tearing it up. It's in my '74 Malibu. Part of the trick to keep it alive is a valve body mod, like from TRANSGO, which makes firm shifts to keep clutch wear at a minimum.
If you decide to tackle it yourself, get a video as well as a book to overhaul it.
