After approximately 20 years of sitting in pieces, there's a question I need answered :dontknow:. I'm ready to attach the fuel filler door to the new 1/4 panel on my 70 EC and I am unsure as to what kind of bolts were originally used to secure the fuel door hinge to the body. Were they self-tapping screws or bolts with nuts on the inside ? Also what size should the screws/bolts be to keep it somewhat original ? It also seems like there should be some sort of "shims" between the hinge and the body to bring the filler door flush with the surface of the body. I can't seem to find any info on this in my factory assembly manual...Any help would be greatly appreciated.

J.R., Do you have a high-speed Internet connection? If so, send me your eMail address and I'll send you some higher-resolution photos of the Gas Door components. I searched my '68 assembly manual and there's no details of the filler door for mine either. However, the bolts appear to be 1/4" and fasten into nuts embedded on the inner side. I hope these help (they didn't load in the proper sequence - but maybe they will help)............Ken
