Hey all,
Im in the process of de-riceing my garage. After its all said and done I will have a modest budget to finally piece together an LS1 elcamino… and would appreciate some leads on finding the right starting point.
Im looking for an elcamino that I can clone into a 1980 (I think that would be a 5th generation 1978-86?)
Ideal would be a 1980, tan interior, bench seat, non ac, minimal rust, rally wheels.
But I am able to work with what ever I get just as long as there is no major rust (frame rotted away, over 70% of the sheet metal needs to be replaced).

Let me know if you run across any thing.

What I would do is if your going to change everything around I would look for an El Camino that has a mint body. Then you will not have to pay to fix rust and all of that crap. Then you can put all your money into the engine

I know where a 79 Caballero Larado is. It has the orig. buckets and 4spd with a 400V8 swap, interior needs to be change anyway(Blue), but it has good bones. He selling it for $4000; He is moving and I know he is ready to make a deal. Good project vehicle.
