Hay guys this is my first post so be kind. I have a 1969 chevelle malibu that im going to be droping a 96 lt1 motor and the t56 six speed ing to. My problem is i cant seem to find alot of information on how to wire it in i have the layouts for the new system and the out one but befor i take on this task i want to have most of my bases covered. My quiestion to you is if i use the full harness for the camaro donar car with the under hud fuse box what wires have to be spliced in to the origenal harness????? My other question is there any motor mods i should do befor i put the motor in.
Im planning on putting a edelbrock cam #2108 and having the ports opend on the heads ( i know that the valve sprin seats have to be mechined for larger sprind to take the lift ) :)
thanx for your help

I can't tell you the exact wires that need to be connected, basically you need to connect the ignition wires, a main hot from the motor harness to the body harness, and a run hot again from the motor to the body harness. Surprisingly very little. You are also going to need to reprogram the computer: eliminate VATS (or use a VATS module), gears, tire size and a few more things I can't think of off the top of my head.
As for mods to the motor the big question would be what are you looking for from the motor. The LT1 is a torque monster so spinning tires is no problem.

i ran a few tests with dino 200 on my computer and i was able to get som huge # though minor mods. Like with port9ing the heads, and a cam from edelbrock # 2108 ( new valve prings needed for the lift ) i was able to get this.
rpm------hp-------toq
2000----164------430
2500----212------446
3000----267------464
3500----323------484
4000----363------476
4500----396------461
5000----415------436
5500----415------396
6000----397------348
6500----377------305
7000----346------259
And yes i know that the computer will have to be programed to take this and i will most likly need a 12 bolt rear end lol. im looking at running 16x8 torque thrust 2 with 255 50 on the front and 285 60 on the rear with a set of 4.11 gears it should be a well rounded car for street and strip.
Does this set up sound good

With a T56 the 4.11s should be OK. On the dyno software hard to say. LT1s can be built up but don't make HP as easily as the LS1/6. Also the only way you'll get an LT1 to 7000 rpm is if it's really been built up or you really feel a need to replace the bottom end after doing it once or twice. 8O Keep us updated on your progress.

i was going to limit the rev to about 6000 maybe a bit higher but not much stock they can go to 6200 so i thought i would play it safe. I find out tomorrow if i get the trany and motor.

alll you need is the engine harness. contact dana at www.lt1350.com he does a great job on all our harness conversions.

With the mods that he is planning computer re-programming will be required. Why not have the programming remove VATS etc at the same time? Why pay to have the harness modified when all it will take is a few more keystrokes during the programming? I'm using the factory harness that has not be modified except I removed sections that were not needed. ABS connectors, windshield wipers etc. Everything else was done with programming. I believe Robert (acauth1) did the same thing.

I have a lt-1 in my 59 and I used Turbo City (Anahiem,Ca) for my computer and wiring. Most of the sensors were eleminated except for the fuel and exhaust. My car is still a bit of a guinna pig for what we are trying to achieve but the effect under the hood is great and it runs great.

That is what I am going to do with my 59. Did you do the swap in the original frame? I have a 95 Impala frame thinking about a major swap.

We just finished an LT1/4L60E swap into a '62 chassis this sumer. kept lots of pictures and details if you need any info. I cut up the factory harness. I'm still using the VATS box and the "special key setup" is in my glovebox for extra security if we want to remove it.
