Hello,
I was looking through the forum recently for topics on which headers to use, and which intake manifold, etc. Though the search option helps, I think this could all be made easier if the administration dedicated a new section of the forum to "Product Reviews". Now I know there are other websites out there that already have product reviews, but it would be nice to have comments and suggestions regarding items from other fellow Elky members. Especially reguarding ease of fit, or outcome and after installation performance notes.
If there is already a section dedicated to this, and i'm merely blind, thoroughly disregard everything I've said :)

I like your idea! That's doable..although I've seen a few comments to the effect that we've got too many forums already. If you were to remove the 25 seperate regional forums, I don't think the main page would look so busy. But for the time being, that's not going to change.
The one concern I have is one of liability. For instance a member post a review of a product or manufacturer X that is extremely negative without ever trying to resolve the issue with said vendor.
But, your suggestion is worth discussing...

Please do not remove the regional forums. Unless you want to group together some that are not used much. We use ours alot.

I second that emotion! Please do not remove the regional forums. Region 5 is a happenin' place!

Negetive product reviews would not be a problem at all.. Freedom of speech and opinion would throughly back us up, and i think we could buy a pretty good lawyer for someone if everyone chipped in a dollar, :P , I dont know about region 5, but my region stinks... i think we could pool some together, or even make a single link from the main page to a page that was designated for the "regions", and then have their own seperate forums branch off of that... either way the product review thing should work out nicely if we can get the attention of a couple of administrators..
who does the editing and upkeep for this site anyways?

Great idea, however I share the same liability concerns as Administrator, Peter (87SS.)
Freedom of speech or not, we still have responsibilities, codes of conduct and Terms of Service to which we have all agreed to adhere upon registration to the site, as outlined Here. (http://elcaminocentral.com/modules.php?name=Docs&file=disclaimer)
Linking forum pages is not an option, and this was discussed at great length prior to adding the regional forums. This site is powered by PHPNuke and ported to PHPBB forums, all coding is PHP using MySql databases. The coding necessary to make these kind of changes is possible, but not practical. Neither I nor Peter have available the hundreds of hours required to take this to task.
Over the next several months Peter and I will be working on a development site with the intention of redesigning this site and adding some new features and functionality.
In the meantime, I will look into a viable solution to creating a reviews section.

We are always looking for assistance, do you have experience with php and mysql?
Thanks
