: Calendar Questions
kenrogers1 10-19-2009, 08:46 AM It's 2/3rds past the first of the month, and I still cannot find any guidance for the calender voting. Have I missed something? I've searched, but only find questions.
What do the stars represent? You can select from 1 through 5 - will the votes be weighted by the number of stars selected?
Who can vote?
How many votes are allowed by each member? One per generation? One per day per generation? A total of 5 stars per generation?
When does voting stop?
I've seen many other persons questions also........Is guidance forthcoming?
I certainly appreciate all the work that has been done to make the calender happen, but I cannot find answers anywhere - please point me in the right direction...........Ken
acauth1 10-19-2009, 10:16 AM 1.) From the gallery software website:
Quote:
The Gallery2 rating module uses a 5-star interface for both user selection and average rating display. The default theme will use gold stars to represent the user's choice, and red outlines of stars to indicate the current average rating for that item.
A user is given the option to rate an image by choosing one of 5 stars. The current votes and average rating of an image is shown using red stars. When a current user rates an images their rating will be shown with gold stars. So if you see an image that has gold stars it means that you have voted for that image. The total amount of votes that have been cast for an image is shown below the stars.
2.) Anyone may vote.
3.) One vote per member per vehicle.
4.) End of October.
I have noticed that there are one or two members who have figured out how to circumvent the voting procedures and give their own vehicles an excessive amount of votes. I will not exclose how this was done other to say that I am on to it and have the server logs as backup. Any member who it has been found to have fudged the voting process will be disquailified.
Thanks
kenrogers1 10-19-2009, 02:02 PM Thanks very much, Robert. Can you make this, or just the instructions, a temporary Sticky, so it doesn't disappear from the visible screens. I know there are many, many, with the same questions that I had. Again, Thanks..............Ken :You_Rock:

Bobby78 10-20-2009, 01:23 PM I voted for some without clicking on the thumbnail. I'm on dialup and some pics take forever to load.
DONE DEAL DONNY 10-20-2009, 04:07 PM That would explain it !! Dial up? Whats that? Oh yea we had that back when there was horse and buggy!!!!:poke:

Bobby78 10-20-2009, 04:27 PM I'm sure a horse and buggy would be more enjoyable!

You must have had a REAL enjoyable time when the site was experiencing the slowness a couple of weeks ago. Slowness compounded by dial-up equals brain-numbing suicidal thoughts?.............Ken
LeoC2 10-21-2009, 01:50 PM But you can vote for more than one vehicle per generation the way I see it works.
kenrogers1 10-21-2009, 03:53 PM You're able to vote one time for each cruck in each generation? I hadn't tried that.

Once you've voted on a vehicle you can't change your vote, so yes, only one vote per vehicle... BUT... you CAN vote for more than one vehicle.
Which begs the question...
If one vehicle gets 4 two stars but another gets 2 five stars... who wins? More people voted for one than the other but the star total is higher on the one with less votes. Is the vote tally the total number of stars?

Very confusing!
acauth1 10-22-2009, 07:49 AM Suppose three vehicles receive 8 votes each. One has 8 votes with an average (star) rating of 2, another receives 8 votes with a rating of 3 and the last has 8 votes with a rating of 5. The car with the the same amount of votes with a higher star rating will be the winner.
I know this is not the greatest gallery software. Not only has it been a pain to carry over from the last site and attempt to integrate with with vBulletin, it also has a lousy
voting module.
skinyfisher 10-22-2009, 07:57 AM I t is not the way it has been in the past for sure, but the software change to the site must have caused the voting method to be what its. I thought you could only vote one Cruck in each Gen per voter, which is how it should be. Unless you use the point system of 1,2,3 and you vote for three crucks per Gen (past method). But this has got to be a software problem as there are more than a couple of problems at hand. It will get fixed and life will go on, it is still better than not having a great calendar full of El Camino's and looking at bunnies or cats or flowers, ya Think.
With what I have seen in this method you can only take the outcome from a straight vote count no ratings count it just does not work in this bad software period. MY Half Cent, the other 1 1/2 cents was used for gas
Poltergeist 10-22-2009, 01:09 PM Next year we'll try to setup polls in the forum for everyone to vote on each generation. Then it will be 1 vote per generation.
