Well, the last big car show of the season in northeast Texas is finished! The were only 2 El Caminos in attendance, and both owners took home trophies. Rushgator, AKA "the Gater", took home a 2nd place award for his super sharp 2000 'Vette in the 2000 & Newer Corvettes Class. Believe me, there was some very stiff competition! The Gater had his '86 El Camino there as a display only, but that cruck's time is coming - as the Gater's ambitious projects come to fruition - it will be a show-winner!

There were over 200 vehicles in attendance, and you can find photos in the Gallery under "Photos from Wolfe City 2009". I tried to place a link here but the gremlins overpowered my best intentions. My El Camino came up a little short in it's efforts, taking a 2nd in the '60 to '72 Original Pickups Class. It was an interesting 250 mile round trip, but I sure had a good time, visiting with the 'gater on how we can drum up some interest in a Texas get together - we now have a plan! - details will follow!...............Ken

Wish you had been there Donny! There were a lot of beautiful vehicles (check out the gallery posting). You're going to be part of the "more to follow", that is, if you want to. I'll send you a PM explaining the plan.............Ken

Heard a lot of great and wonderful things about the show. Good news travels fast. Especially from the owner of the 36 who won "Best in Show". He said it was a really big trophy. He lives here in MV. Congrats on your award. Can't wait for details on what you have up you sleeve. I have some Vacation coming. A scheduled illness is not out of the question.

It was a great show, Birdman! I posted some photos of the ones that impressed me most in the Car Shows Gallery. I really don't know how easy they are to find, as I haven't looked at the photos in this format. But there were a LOT of beautiful cars, and anyone who hasn't experienced a large show such as this one is really missing a wonderful experience!

I expect that this was my last show for the year. I've sure been blessed this year by my car show experiences - the beautiful vehicles, the wonderful car show "people", and the extraordinary people who attend and take the time to relate their past experiences involving El Caminos. I've had people get really teary eyed remembering a loved one who had one "exactly something like" this one right here!............Ken

Ken, thanks for putting up the report. The show was a little smaller than last year due to the untimely death of the show's #1 promotor. But still, 200 + very high quality cars and trucks makes for a great show. Hopefully next year we have have some more Elkys in the show. BTW, the class that I trophied in was 84-2010 Vettes, encompassing C4,5,& 6. Didn't enter the Elky for judging, because it's got a ways to go before she's ready for that, but I had to bring her for moral support for Ken's '68 (as if it really needs it....dang, that Elky is sharp) So everyone, get those Elkys fixed up this winter and be ready for spring!
