Hi. I'm a total El Camino nublet, I don't even have one. I am most likely going to buy an El Camino this upcoming summer and it will be 3rd gen.

The one I'm looking at right now is a 350, rebuilt engine
Roller rockers, Electronic Ingnition, 202 Holly heads, Holly street dominator intake, Edelbrok Carb, High compression pistons, high lift cam, flow masters, 12 bolt posi traction 373 gears and said to produce about 420 hp. My plan is to have a fast El Camino as it is, but also 4x4 monster. I just want to read your suggestions about how/where to modify the car and make it 4x4, but at the same time keep as much road car performance as possible. Let's say 4x4 13s quarter mile all time or part time all wheel drive. Where shall I head?

As far as making an Elky A 4X4, it's been done. I think most guys place an Elky body on something like a full size K5 Blazer frame. Don't think you'll see 13s with that kind of horsepower though if you use a Blazer chasis.

How about just modding it to be all wheel drive with normal tires and no lift

You would still need to use a blazer frame or something like it.

Yes 4X4 El Caminos are faily common and there is a guy near me that is selling one and I think it's a '71. Just like everybody else that's done it he discarded the stock frame and put the body on a 4X4 pickup truck. To use the stock frame and convert it to a full time all wheel drive (like the Chevy Typhoon and Cyclone?) is possible. And I say it's possible because with enough enthusiasm, time and $$$$$$ everything is possible. The question is WHY???? :dontgetit:

because I like off roading and classic/muscle cars. El Camino is also a truck, so I can put the dirtbike in the back, go somewhere off road and ride bike there.
