It would be interesting to know just what kind of piece of off-shore crap that the author of that article drives.
It's been my experience over the years that people want to buy my El Caminos, even though they are not for sale. Never had that with other cars.

wow whoever wrote this should be ashamed! the el camino should not even be a possible for the list. its different but in no way ugly. its basically calling whatever car the el camino is based off of ugly too. like really, the ferrari enzo, bmw 7 series and the delorean are all sleek cars, this dude is blind, thats what i got from that article lol

I was actually just about to post the same link, its upsetting, the author needs to be shot. I understand everybody has their own opinion but I work with people who have never owned elkys and they also completely disagree with the list and the fact that the elky is #1. The author should be publically executed, I will personally man the firing squad.

So I want to know what makes a Ranchero a better looking car then a El Camino? I want to see what kind of cars this author thinks are cool? Maybe this guy is an import fan. I am just lost for words, but as long as we all love are El Caminos that is all that matters.

I have to say there is no doubt that many of the cars on that list belong there.

However the El Camino isn't one of them.

There is no accounting for taste, all are entitled to thier opinions, no matter how far off or misguided they are.

We have our opinions and know the guy who wrote the article is just plain NUTS!

I've had a bunch of cars over the last 40 years that I've considered to be "cool rides". The list includes acknowledged classics such as '64 Impala SS, '67 Malibu, '87 Buick GN, '91 Syclone etc. I've never had a vehicle that prompted more spontaneous favorable comments by complete strangers as much as my '87 Camino. For the sake of their devoted readers, I hope Business Week's main editorial content is more accurate than their automotive stuff.

Am really curious how he would carry a sheet of plywood in his BMW. He probably does not even own a car. People like that talk just to hear themselves. The only thing that is important to him is his precious by-line. An apology is due.

I'm quite curious if he has ever seen an el camino in person, or if that picture has been his closest experience. It irritates me to see people criticizing things they know nothing about.

It's like a movie critic giving a restaurant review.:poke:

There's no point.

Didn't take the time to look up the author's credentials (mainly 'cause I don't care to waste 3 more minutes of my life), but I'll bet he is not an automotive authority. I'd put more stock it it if it were in Car & Driver, or something similar. Attractiveness is very subjective, especailly in cars and women. But we won't even go there.....:poke:

This guy is apparently nuts cause' he bashed everything from the Elco to the Enzo... I mean I'm not a Ferrari guy, but an Enzo is NOT ugly at all...

I'm really surprised the Merkur XR4Ti didn't make it on the list as everybody loves to hate on those cars unless you really understand what they were...

I'm an odd car fan and love the Elco, give me something that's different any day of the week rather than your run-of-the-mill 3 series or Civic....

Speaking of Civics, how in the blue hell did the CRX not make it on the list that car looks like sin on wheels...

Over on our SSR forum, someone had posted this same link. Amazingly, a lot of folks there had similar comments! However, the author wasn't portrayed as driving an Accord/Camry --- no, much worse.... a Prius!

I too have never had a negative comment on my EC (even considering that I've only had it 6 months so far).

He's got 60 pages of posted responses just TODAy,, I'd say he's getting his publicity.
Probably just what business week thinks is a 'good' thing!

Hope he enjoys his 15 minutes of flame. :???:

The ElCamino has been number one on the "Ugliest Car List" for more than a few years now.
AOL used to have this on the home page on a monthly basis.

What got me on the list was the Citroen Ami----where the guy mentioned the distaste of the roof and the taillights------Exactly the same things that made a 64 Mercury Park Lane 4 dr HT a beautiful car---makes the Citroen an eyesore

VW thing----introduced in 1969--------maybe introduced to America in 1969, but was used extensively during WWII as a German officer transport.

The Pinto, and the Mustang II were not ugly at all--------since the Mustang was no longer a muscle car, it may be argued that it was a pig-------but both of these cars sold very well and were actually kinda 'cute' ----- a car just for your 17yo daughter that did not scream "Grandma's old car"

All this write up proves is, paper won't refuse ink.
We just have to think of all the grief these so called "Smart Business" gurus have inflicted upon us the past few years to realize that you can't fix stupid. The only other person that said my Elky was ugly was my wife when I brought it home. But that is forgivable , she is blonde. LOL

Its interesting to me that my 83 daily driver averages a couple compliments a month from strangers. It currently has faded black paint and missing 2 center caps. I get "cool car" or "nice el camino" a lot. I have never got any compliments while driving my wife's nissan quest mini van. The only other car I owned that got lots of compliments was my 69 camaro SS that I owned in the early eighties.

You guys are taking this way to seriously. Everyone has cars they love and hate. I get a lot of good comments about my elky and a few negatives one as well. The guy who lives next door to me thinks my El Camino is just plain ugly. In fact he says it makes him think of child molesters because when he sees one that's what comes to mind. And we get along great, that's just his opinion. I also know a guy who thinks the Yugo is the greatest car ever built. It's all in what you like and don't like.
Now me personally, I hate corvettes. So I would probably put them on the list. Not because I think they are ugly, but because I have never met a vette owner who is not a complete a-hole. But that's just my opinion. Just like I have the right to my opinion the author of that list has the right to his. And we are talking about, so he was effective in getting people to look at it.
