Hi all, well, I have had this account for a good while, and literally forgot about it until a couple days ago, I know shame on me.. Well I guess I'll talk about my car alittle bit, its an '81 that Ive had since 2004, im 17 so that means I was 12 when I got this car, yes I was young, I paid half(lots of mowing and yard work for people in my neighborhood) my parents the other, we bought for 3800, it came with a rebuilt stock 350, repainted blah blah it was in good condition but I bought it to fix it up my self, and I have, the 2.73 gears were my first thing to do on my list, they left and I put in some 3.73s, and I put a shift kit my th350. Then came the motor, I just put a 600cfm carb on it, intake, and headers, the engine had 416 heads on it, and they had to go, but im in high school and it made enough power for me, until, after waiting 4 years to drive my beauty, the camshaft went out on within the first month of my license, this was last december, I didnt have a job yet so no money could go to my car, it had taken me 4 years just to pay for the upgrades mentioned above, my parents dont help me, I dont let them, so I got a job and have been saving money and selling parts, I bought a 1980 350 complete motor that was bored .40 over, I bought vortec heads, a left over intake from my grandpas vortec build, reused carb and headers, bought an eagle rotating assembly xe268 cam, stock rockers etc etc, I have 1500 in the motor now and I just need new gaskets and stuff, so after a year off the road and building my motor in spare time, Im finally ready to get it done!! hope the story wasnt too long lol.

Really proud of you, I'm sure your family is too. It is sure good to hear from a young man that loves El Caminos and forgets things I thought it was just us (old men that love El Caminos).
Take care and keep posting, loved the pictures.

When you are old enough to drink legally I'll post this .

Your first one at 12, that is something not many can say. (the El Camino you gutter heads) Welcome young man, sounds like you are off to a great start. Your "do it yourself" attitude is commendable.

Welcome and great story! You remind me when I was getting my first Elky. I read everything that I can get my hands on, internet was thing nobody has ever heard back then. So it was old-fashioned reading and studying at library. Cheers and keep us posted on your progress! :You_Rock:

congrats man! When I got my first El Camino I was 17 and did not have my license. Now that I am 20 I have been going a ton of work to mine and I am still not done yet. I also think it is vary comendable that you are doing all the work to your El Camino and not having your parents help out. Shows what kind of person you are. :You_Rock::Welcome!:

Great looking ride! Glad to see you took an interest in American iron instead of an import. It's a good feeling when you can accomplish all of the work yourself without the help of your parents. Very admirable!:You_Rock:
