I'm trying to figure out just where, EXACTLY, the SS emblems are supposed to be positioned on the front fenders of my 1970 EC...I actually have the Factory Assembly Manual for it, but the diagram just doesn't seem to make sense to me. If I am interpreting it correctly with where they have the "0" mark as well as the "22" mark, that would put the "SS" emblems way too high and way too far forward on the fender. I'm assuming the "22" mark denotes a point 22-inches up from the bottom of the fender. :dontknow: If that's the case, the "ElCamino" emblem above the "SS" would be way up on the top of the fender where the "body-line" begins to curve back in toward the hood. Any help here from someone who has a factory correct 70-72 SS and could provide me with some detailed measurements would be GREATLY appreciated !!! :beer:

Just a shot in the dark from an OLD carpenter:the 22 in the circle is a reference line "DETAIL" it should be spelled out on another sheet, likewise for the items in a square. If you notice the items in a triangle are listed at the lower left,this designates a change was made to the print after design .:secret:

Thanks, "bonos40"...I kinda' figured that as well when nothing seemed to "measure-up" with a 22-inch mark. The problem I have here is that there is no other "Detail" page anywhere else in the assembly manual (I went through it page by page). This is the only page which shows anything having to do with the placement of the fender emblems on the ElCamino.

Maybe these picture can give you a better idea on were it should go. Just an FYI if you did not put it 100 percent in the right spot I do not think the normal person will notice the difference.

I see this post is over a year old, But there is a lot of good info in old post's. So here's what i found out about the subject in hand. Hey memail (john). Look at page 635. Ya ever wonder why they don't show the el camino emblem on this page like they do on page 637? Page 635 must b chevelle only. Also check pages 35 and 36, These pages show the ss chevelle with only the ss and engine id. then go to page 43 for the ss el camino with the el camino emblem, ss and the engine id. I think the pictures of tuggy24g;s elky has chevell fenders on it. If you can find the basic measurement's for the el camino emblem then with the info on page 637 you can figure out where the ss and the engine id. holes need to b drilled.
