My wife is letting me revisit the 70's. Just went from WI to OK and got a rust free 77. Motor, trans, rearend all figured out. Want to change out entire dash and gauges. Anybody have any good looking ideas/tricks?

New 77 4th gen owner too. Would like to hop on this thread for any helpful advice. I have a bad fuel gauge, PS pump, and reverse lights stay on. Along with some other minor stuff. Changing the starter was a pain in the ass, hope you don't have to go thru that...

I had a company make me a engine turned stainless steel panel for mine. It was set up to accept Aotometer gauges, and also they made inserts for around the radio knobs. I can send anyone interested picures if they so desire. Mine, was their prototype, and last time I knew they had them ready for production. I have not installed it yet, but I do have all the gauges, so you could see what it looks like. I will be back home on Sunday should anyone like pictures.

Kindest Regards
Brian

Just signed up yesterday. recently aquired a 76. It runs pretty good, needs some minor work. Have question too.
What would keep the fasten seatbelt light lit all the time? Even with ALL the seatbelts buckled?

I have been thinking about putting some after market gauges in this. I pulled it from a 77 Monte Carlo.

I had a '76 Elco SS with that same cluster. You will need the wiring diagram for the optional gauges to wire in the senders/sensors etc, but the cluster itself is a bolt-in.
I've seen a few of those clusters on Ebay, but they want too much for something with factory gauges, which are notoriously in-accurate etc.

Welcom to the dwindling few 77 owners left. I should have picked a year that had some spare parts. Just kidding, I woulnd't give up my 77 for anything. Hell, in a few years there won't be many left, then we will show those guys.

The 4th gens are not too common. The 5th gens are a dime a dozen, numbers-wise, lots of them around. Of course they were built for 10 years also. More new parts seem to be showing up for the 4th gens in recent years though.

Anyone know how much time/money would go into rewiring all the tail lights? Mine are all sorts of messed up. Reverse lights stay on all the time, blinkers work on one side. Colored wires? Fuggedaboutit, it is a nightmare back there. I got it working to pass inspection, but would like it to work correctly...

Aceydeucey 70; I have an extra harness for the tail lights, the harness that plugs into the receptacle on the driver's side quarter panel, up underneath there..

I would check it for condition if you are interested.......
