Ahh! Some how, the little arm that holds my traction bar broke at the adjustable bolt dealy. Does anyone know where i can simply buy a new arm for my traction bar as opposed to spending $100 for the whole freakin thing?

Since El Camino's (nor any other Chevrolet) were ever fitted with OEM traction bars your traction bar must be aftermarket. Why don't you go to the company that made the traction bars for spare parts?

I have been thinking about stock factory traction bars on Chevrolets and I was wrong when I said no Chevrolet ever had an OEM traction bar. Some solid axle Corvettes (I think from 1958 on) had factory installed traction bars. Does anybody else know of any others?

If the end that broke is a threaded adjuster with a swivel ball on the end , it's commonly refered to as a Heim in aircraft circles. They are currently available from a few sources, one being Mcmaster Carr. The web site is http://www.mcmaster.com. They have quite a bit of related fastener hardware available. Worth a shot.

Not the side with the swivel ball, the exact opposite part that actually screws into the cylinder. I am not sure what brand of traction bar it is, it was on my el when i bought it. I guess it would be alright to go ahead and find another traction bar and buy the entire setup for it so that i can have some parts if the other one breaks somehow...

Could you post a picture of the traction bar and maybe we could identify it and help you find the part you need? South Side Machine, Competition Engineering, Lakewood and some others all make traction bars for G bodies but they don't use a cylinder, could it be an adjustable link?

You can check the Jegs and Summit web sites they have pics of the traction bar setups. Summit has links to the manufacturers web sites for Comp. eng. and Lakewood if either of those setups is what you have. The other alternative is to get ahold of the last owner and see if they can assist with the info you need.

i found a set of traction bars today on e bay that says it will fit the g-body. Not a cylinder, i should have said the metal rod 8-) . I might as well buy the pair and take any parts i need and have some for when the next one breaks.

I looked at the traction bars on Ebay, those are Lakewood a division of Mr. Gasket. I went to their Website but I couldn't find a replacement part for the adjustment rod. Why don't you give them a call at 216 688-8300 and see if you can get a replacement part. I bet that at the end of that 4 day Ebay auction those bars will be over $100.00. Sell new at Jeg's for $143.95.

MR GASKET (www.mrgasket.com/lakewoodmain.html) is the website for Mr Gasket Performance Group. Lakewood Traction Bars is a division of Mr. Gasket. At the bottom of the website home page you can go to the Lakewood section.

You might want to check those swivel ends a bit closer. Sometimes one is a left hand thread and the other end being a right hand thread. That would allow you to adjust them on the car without removing one of the rod ends.
