Ok, more questions from a newbie owner.

My 71 has AC that the sales person told me was a dealership installed option after the person both the Elky orginially? Does that sound right? It's a big unit that hangs below the center of my dash, and I belive it's made by Frigette?

Does Vintage Air, or anyone else make a unit that bolts in like O.E.? That unit is rather large and rather ugly!

Thanks!

Could be dealer installed or aftermarket installed. I do aftermarket installs. The old Frigette units were rather bulky. Many companies make underdash units a bit smaller than that one. Vintage Air makes an indash unit, but several other companies build superior units than VA.
(Vintage Air has the bucks for the advertising, it's too bad they don't use any of it to build a better unit.)
You might take a look at http://hotrodair.com

Thanks for the info. I just looked and noticed no belts to the AC pump. It probably doesn't work. Would you suggest pulling the old unit for a new one from VA or Hotrod? Seems like this would be the cheapest, smartest and most desirable plan?

Your thoughts?

Thanks Again!

The cheapest method would be to repair what you have. The next cheapest would be to install another underdash unit. The costliest method would be to use an indash....also, I would not install a VA unit in my worse enemies car, go with another brand.
