My drive shaft gives a ping when put in reverse only. I was told that the inner part of the drive shaft broke loose and needs to be repaired or replace entire shaft.
How do I know which drive shaft to look for in a salvage yard ?
I know I hace a thm-200 Trans (MW9) and posi rear (G80).

Why don't you ask the wrecking yard to look it up in the Hollander Manual. They will be able to tell you which other GM cars have the same driveshaft.

Are they sure the universal joints don't have alot of play? That's always the first thing to check.

I'm with Tommy, check the u-joints first. I've never heard of an "inner" driveshaft. What do you mean? The ping could also be transmission or rearend slop, too.

If your drive shaft is bad take it to a "Drive Shaft" repair shop. Look in the Yellow pages. They can probably fix it and balance it for under $100.
