Intro by semi-newbie.

I live in mostly in Northern VA but my Elky lives mostly in WV -- the Eastern Panhandle (Harpers Ferry and all that).

The Eastern Panhandle in WV is closer to Washington, DC than to Ohio and really belongs in Group 4, not group 8, IMHO.

The Panhandle is strange. With Sen. Robert Byrd moving the entire Federal Government out there piece by piece and a number of high-tech companies there as well, mixed in with the still rural ambience, you get something like the Dukes of Hazard and K St. run into one.

Ted . . . I am in Alexandria. Where are you located in "Upstate Virginia"?

You are absolutely right about the geography. Of course, there are also those who feel Northern Virginia is merely a suburb of DC and in no way reflective of the rest of Virginia.

I'm new to necoa, so I'm still figuring all of this out. Don't see too much from VA in the posts. Any reason?

it is pretty funny about the whole- not seeing many posts in the va area, because if you go to the visitor link on the home page, you will see that chantilly area has the most "visitors to the site" than all the other areas. i think it is funny how that works!
