Well not really a newbie! Been a member for awhile now. I bought my 81 El Camino back in 07 for $700. No engine no trans, dash torn apart, among other parts torn apart and missing. I didnt really do anything with it up until this summer. I now have a GM Goodwrench 350 crate in it, mated to a 700R thats mounted on a G-Force crossmember. It The Elky is still not running but im hoping that this weekend I can ride it around the block. So just wanted to say thanks to everyone on the site that has posted questions and to all those who answered them. I was able to find all the info I needed by just using the search feature. Will take some pictures of the Elky this weekend, still not looking good but it will be running. 2 years sitting in my backyard, 4 months in the driveway up front, and 3 days til D-Day. Ha. Its gonna be awesome on Sat, jsut riding around the block.
Thanks guys:nanawrench:

That is a lot of good news. Congrats on the project. As stated, you should put some pictures up when you get a chance. Get some feedback on those years of work.

I will def post some pics up. Things i found on search include, adapting 700r into El Camino, converting sweep style gauge to round gauge pod, testing the gauges,(still have problem with coolant temp gauge but havent messed with it yet), headers, I had some hooker headers that i tried for a whole day to get in and couldnt. I then found a post on how to install them and took me 1hr to get them on after that. Crossmember and driveline adaptation. Timing help, and im sure I looked at a bunch more post.
This forum rocks!!!:You_Rock:
