Got the stereo installed yesterday, went to front end shop got ball joint fixed and alignment, drives great, putting in tach today. Got first bid on paint at 1250.00 its going to be white with blue stripes on cowl hood. Is that too high or what it has minimal rust but cowl hood needs work, thanks for reading woody out.:texas:

Hey Woody-Just had mine repainted to original color. The paint had was so wrinkled up it looked like wrinkle paint. Body shop had to go down to bare metal and prime. Four months later and $2200 lighter finally got her back. Did not have to buy any pieces except for the front corner filler pieces. Paint and primer was around 500. If you have connections at O'reilly where they mix paint then that will save you a dollar or two. Just remember that he is holding it hostage and get ready for a long wait. If you push him, he will get sloppy and it will certainly show. Just leave it and forget it. My bodyman originally said two weeks. Good Luck.

$1250.00 sounds really cheap. The labor for what you want done should be more than that by itself.

Woody, Please check this guy out! Ask for some references, go look at some of his work. Your El Camino means too much to you for it to get a sub-standard paint job, and, at that price, I would be highly suspicious. That's a fraction of the going rate here in North Texas, and my El Camino will be in the shop for at least 2 months (I hope not more!). Please check him out, including seeing some of his work. As someone has said before - that's my 2 cents worth (and that pretty much completes the draining of my resources after my cruck is finished!).............Ken

A friend painted my '74 Malibu Classic about 4 years ago, and I dropped 1300 bucks at the paint store for the stuff needed to do the job, in base-coat-clear-coat. He had it for over a month (while I was having fun in Hawaii:smileyb:) He did a first-class job. The point is, paint supplies and paint are not cheap, and your quote looks suspicious !!:smileyb:
