I have put a 200-4r in my 78 Elky, and am wanting to know about the lock-up converter. If I don't hook up a switch for the converter, will it damage the trans at all. I know that I won't get as good of gas mileage. I do plan on hooking it up later, after I get the car running and all the bugs worked out. I just don't want to smoke the trans in the meantime.

I ran without lockup for a couple of months with no problems.

You might consider a Transmission cooler kit.
