hello all..
Im putting a 400 small block into an 81 el camino..anyone know where i can find a 4 row radiator...or one that would fit from another chevy vehicle. i need something that can keep this beast cool in traffic.

A 3 row for a 78,79 350 should work fine. A friend has one in his 78 Malibu with a big block & has no problems.

Tommy, i also think a 3 core rad should work. but the 400 small block does run a little hotter because of the siamesed cylinder walls.

I had posted this almost a year ago.

What about a Modine 951? It is the stock replacement aluminum radiator for 1991 IROC Camaros with 350s and auto trans. It drops right in place and the only thing you have to do is slightly tweak the lower tranny line. It's the same width and hose locations. It's got plastic tanks and an aluminum core. You'll get better cooling, and it's 5 lbs lighter than the stock radiator.

My Camino is a bit older, but the process should be the same. I had a 3 row radiator in mine, which ran too hot once I went to BB. I ended up taking the rad out and down to the local radiator shop. They did some checking and were able to recore it using a 5 row core and my top and bottom tanks. Cost me about $300. And if I have any problems I can take care of it locally, rather than shipping it halfway across the country. Might be worth looking into.
