For all you young folks , today is Pearl Harbor day. Like 68 years ago today was the "day of infamy" as Roosevelt put it.
If any of you get to Oahu sometime, visit the Arizona Memorial, and the battleship Missouri which is moored on battleship row of the old days.

Hey three years ago I got to attend the 65th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor Symposium. There were four of us from our school and two teachers. We visited the Arizona Memorial on the 7th and heard lots of people give their accounts during the Symposium that occurred the week leading up to the 7th. It was quite a mind boggling and moving experience. I am grateful to those who gave their lives on that infamous day, and am grateful for the experience of getting to hear the stories and see the places where it all happened. Didn't get to see the Missouri though, which was a bummer. Oh well, that gives me a reason to go back!

I struggle with it being a day to remember? No disrespect to anyone but shouldn't we have a Hiroshima or a Nagaski Day I mean after all thats what ended it, right?
What do they say (atomic bomb, built in America tested it Japan)
I do understand the great lose of life suffered by Americans and by no means do I wish to degrade it. I guess the point to remembering it was so we didn't let it happen again. Then came 911.

The big difference between the Horoshima attack and Pearl Harbor was the fact that we were at war for Hiroshima but not at Pearl.
I hold no grudges or anything like that, and I have Japanese friends in Hawaii and Japan, so it mostly historical, even though I remember that day.

Japan would have used atomic bombs. Those bombs saved thousands of American military lives. I have been to the memorial, a sobering experience. More Japanese tourists visiting the memorial than others.

Yea I agree they would have used it if they had it. And one day some will. Another day that (will live in imfamy)
I wish I could visit Pearl Harbor. I would like to pay my respects.
My son had the honor of serving for America, I just have the honor of living here

I have been "Blessed" to have been able to see the Arizona Memorial. It was a very "sobering experiance" I truly believe that "EVERY AMERICAN" should see it. (in person) The wind... the waves... the oil that still rises to the surface, from Her, the Arizona. To this day, reflects the emtoumbment and fury that day and to all that paid the Ultimate price for OUR FREEDOM, that We enjoy 24/7 now. Freedom is not free, Sure there are other attacks more recent, and they too need and will be remembered. Thx's...:usa:

Sadly, the Arizona is crumbling. Likely because it's close to the surface. From what I see on TV occasionally, it's being monitored.
I was 10 years old at the time of that event.
