Has anyone here ever bought anything from www.dixiemontecarlo.com? I am thinking about buying my interior kit from them. They sell rubber/weatherstrip kits and full interior kits for a better price than buying everything separate. Their prices are pretty fair and the best thing for me is they are only 40 minutes away so I can go check out the products before buying and no major shipping charges on oversized items.
I would like to hear some feedback if possible. I am hoping they are good because if so then I will be up there all the time.
Thanks for any info!

MEAT, thanks that was helpful. Customer service plays a big part in whether or not I buy from a company. Some places have great products but their customer service is just horrible and I do not ever purchase from those kinds of places. As for carpets, do you know where they get their carpet kits from? I thought someone here said ACC but am not 100% sure.
I may take a trip up there tomorrow or the day after to see what they have. I still need to buy myself a christmas present and may get their Deluxe interior kit with carpet, bottom of door carpet, compartment storage carpet, rear curtain, and floor mats. All of that for only $295. That is very cheap though so I want to make sure the quality is good and not something that will start shredding apart in a year or start fading within a year or two.
As I may have stated in another thread, I am going to be using my El Camino for a company vehicle for doing mobile detailing so I need it to look top notch and of course I will take care of everything by using Scotchguard on all the fabrics. :nanawrench:

Unfortunately I cant say where they get the carpet from, but if its quality; at 295 its a great deal. Please if you find out post it here or pm me id like to know. Its an advantage being driving distance from a place like that. im about 30 min from original parts group and it gives me the op to check out the stuff before purchase for quality, fit, and pricing just incase i can get it cheaper somwhere else. I usually go with opgi or dixie for price and service, every once in a while i'll use national parts depot or goodmark for things that others wont carry. a good thing about dixie; they sell alot of original parts in great condition, opgi has a huge selection of good repro that that are hard to find. But again, let us know.

Your lucky, you live in California. When I lived in Southern California I did not realize how lucky I was because everything is there. If I ever needed dirt bike parts, baja parts, hot rod parts, etc it was close by. Now living out here I have to order everything but I do have to say that I have Fat Man Fabrications only 30 minutes from me, NPD about 30-40 minutes and Dixie Monte Carlo 40-45 from me. NPD is OK on some things, I have bought a few things from them for my 66 F100 but of course I have never seen a reproduction part fit well or look as good as OEM.

BTW, I will post an update this week once I go check out Dixie Monte Carlo. Maybe if the owner is there I can see about group discounts or an El Camino Central discount? We'll see!

I have bought several items from DMC over the past year and have been impressed with the service.
Since I live in Ontario Canada, good service accross the national borders is a big plus. I just call the 1-800# and Tom takes good care of my requirements,

I have bought from DMC several times, and I have always been satisfied with both the product and the customer service. Also, if you mention El Camino Central, you get a 5% discount. They may offer a higher discount if you buy more stuff. Just tell them you're a member of El Camino Central/ NECOA.

Oh ok great I am glad to hear all the positive comments! I am going to most likely take a ride up there tomorrow now that I didn't get a chance to today. I need to go get my plate and title registered tomorrow for this car and will stop up there while I am at it.
I plan to buy my interior kit from them then and yes they will be seeing me at least once every 2 weeks for now on. :nanawrench:

The only problem I have with any supplier is back-ordered stuff. When ordering inline, they would be well advised to tell the customer that an item is back ordered instead of the customer having to call or email them to find out what the hell is going on. I've canceled a few orders lately after waiting for quite a while with no response. Dixie Monte Carlo was one of them, but not the only one. Maybe they don't need my business ??

I ordered my weatherstripping from them they had the best prices and I like how they set up the kits.

Shawn F.
12-16-2009, 03:57 PM
Carretera, how was your weatherstripping kit? I was thinking of buying mine from them and I know with old cars it is very hard to find good quality weatherstrip kits that wont rot or tear after only a year or two. It is also hard to find them that actually fit!
Steelybill, that is usually the case with ordering anything online. Yours is the first negative comment I have heard here so far, I hope it's the only one though but we will see. Maybe they got so busy with online orders they just cant keep up? I do not know but if everyone says that their carpet kits, headliners and weatherstripping is good then I will be buying these kits in the next few days and get the rubber in 3 weeks or so. Once I can get all my weatherstripping I can tear the car down, strip the paint and get ready to prime the car and start work on the body and filler. Overall the car is solid and not that wavy so I am hoping to have body work done in a week and 2 weekends. We will see!

I have spent a few dollars at Dixie this summer. Weatherstripping, carpets, ground effects kit, door panels, headliners, dash cover various clips and about everything else that I have used on my Elky. Steve and his wife and I can't recall the guys name that works the phone orders all know their stuff. I have yet to walk in and ask for something that was not in stock( except the ground effects, Steve ordered those from Lauren and I picked at Dixie and saved the freight). I live about an hour away(Rockingham)

I recomend them highly.

oldfan, thanks your input is very important too because you actually have gone in there personally. I am far from Rockingham (not THAT far) but I pass by there from 74 to go to the beach at Oak Island since we have a beach house there. We need to get all of us NC guys to have a hot rod meet somewhere. I have quite a few old cars of all makes and models and in a few sites with guys who have Nova's, old chevy and Ford trucks, now El Camino's, old Chrysler's from the 40's, etc. I bet if we set up a central location somewhere we could get guys from SC and NC to do a meet some weekend and have a good turn out with anything welcome (besides imports of course). :)
Anyways, I can't wait to get my carpet kit and such. I first need to find where I can buy jute mat in bulk because I want to use it on the entire floor and firewall. EIther that or I may just get a cheaper line of Dynamat so I can do every part of the interior such as the ceiling, smuggle box, firewall, floors, inside the doors, kick panels, etc. Since this is my daily driver I want it to stay nice and warm in the winter, cool in the summer and low road noise. Comfort is a must. :)

Update:
I have already ran by Dixie Monte Carlo now a few times and am very happy with their customer service and products. I bought a carpet kit, 100% dash cover, SEM paint, battery tray, door locks and keys and a handful of other parts from them. Everything is good quality, great prices and great customer service! I highly recommend these guys over most other stores selling El Camino, Malibu and Monte Carlo parts.

I've had only one order there. It was back-ordered for a while so I cancelled it. It was for OEM air shocks, which I don't really need until much later, and I'll likely re-order them later.

Shawn, How is the quality of the carpet kit? I am getting ready to order seat covers and carpet and 100% dash cover. Let us know how it all works.

Shawn F.
12-29-2009, 03:29 PM
The 100% dash cover is good. For a dash cover it fits great and looks MUCH better than a cracked dash. I was expecting it to look gapped and not so great but was VERY surprised. Carpet I have not installed but know that it will do just fine because it's an ACC carpet kit and ACC carpets fit great. They do require a little trimming and fitting and sitting out in the sun but that is typical with just about any aftermarket carpet kit. Seat covers I have not done yet but it's something I plan to do next month if I get the funds. Everything they have seems to be of very nice quality and lucky for me I get to look at them in person before I buy them to make sure I like them or not.
Their service and prices are top notch and good. I have dealt with NPD and a few other stores (not only for El Camino parts) and I have to say that Dixie Monte Carlo is the best so far when it comes to help and everything else. I like the fact that it's close and they are nice enough to answer questions for me such as knowing if a 87 Monte SS dash cluster and gauges will work or not. They take their time to answer any questions and are straight up about it too.

Thanks for the info. I google where they are and it looks close to the Lowes Speedway area. I have got things from Dennis Carpentar & NPD. For a 3 hour drive, it might be worth the trip to see what they have.

I bought a dash cap from Dixie Monte Carlo a couple weeks ago. I live less than an hour away and I just decided to visit the shop instead of waiting for them to return my call. (It says on their answering machine that they get about 200-300 calls per day.) Their shop is at the end of a gravel private road with no indication on the main road that you are at Dixie Monte Carlo. They were extremely friendly and didn't mind me just showing up unannounced.

I had questions about their custom instrument panels and lower door panels with speaker holes. They took time to show the products to me and answer any questions I had. I would rate their customer service as awesome. They are going to get a lot of my money in the next few years.

Just a few weeks ago I saw their:dontknow::dontknow: name on this website and checked them out and also requested a catalog. I was excited to see how thick it was when it arrived in the mail. However, I was soon disappointed to see no color pics, including pages on carpet and seat covers. Bottom line, they didn't get my order!

The catalog is somewhat disappointing with no color pictures but their website has everything and is in color.
I am in need of some more parts soon and will give them a visit in the next few weeks I am hoping. :nanawrench:

I have bought from there a couple of times, I found their pricing to be competative on some things, I wonder if they price match the competition.

I've bought thousands of dollars of stuff from them, including an interior kit. Prices were good, customer service was great (I accidentaly ordered one piece a different color, they called me to verify what color I wanted; I also ordered the wrong gauge cluster shadow box, I shiipped it back and they sent me the right one, no questions asked) I'd definitely recommend them.

I've bought several items and had no problem with what i ordered, but good luck getting them to answer an e-mail. I had a question about an item, but I can't call during business hours due to my job. I sent a message three times and they never returned an e-mail. If they don't want my business I'll take it somewhere else.

Theyre prices are competitve, but sometimes MikesMontes.com has it a bit cheaper, and he answers the phone himself. He usually has experience with the products he sells too.
