I recently purchased a 1974 El Camino Classic, and with total intensions to fully and completely restoring it. But every time I start looking at other Camino's I notice that my 74' has some exterior molding I have never seen anywhere else. Is there something special about this car? Mabey a showroom model? Or am I just over zealous and just have an average run of the mill Camino. Either way I cannot find any replacement molding so if anyone has some info about this please respond.

I am guessing that you are talking about the classic Two Tone trim that the El Camino Classic Models between 1973 and 1977 had. That trim is difficult to locate. Lots of people gave up and smoothed the body in the Fourth Generation El Caminos.

Mine is also a Classic Model El Camino, 1976 vintage (Bi-Centennial year Model). I like the "Classic Trim or Two Tone trim as it is called by most. They offered it on the El Camino and the Station wagons only. So it is difficult to locate and when you do you will pay pretty good for it if its from an On-Line source. If you can you'd be better off locating a donor car/truck in a Junk Yard. My front "L" trim cost me $50.00 a side and the Long Fender Trims was also 50.00, all of that was used but in good condition with only minor dings.

I got my trim from The El Camino Store back when I was needing it. I had to call and talk with then and they put me on a list for the parts. It took about two or three weeks before someone contacted me that they had found it and would ship it to me.

They or EC Parts will sell New triple chrome plated bumpers (Front and Rear) but they cost about 350.00 each.

Interior parts will be easy to find, as far as plastic pieces and door panels.

Good Luck and Welcome to ECC /NECOA

I have a rare 2-tone 1972.

Anybody know where I can find the lower trim for one?

Mine was missing that trim when I bought her.
