New member here seeking direction, I am looking for the chrome moldings that go around the top of the bed on the 60 Elky. There was a site on the net that someone was reproducing them, but have lost his URL. Can any one help me find these, will take used but they have to be in really nice shape, no holes for tauneau cover. thanks ahead time.

Welcome to a great site. Good luck with your 60 as I know parts are getting hard to come by.

Hey jake,

Try e-mailing these two guys:

Dkosm@cs.com - ask for Dave

Snakestyle@cs.com - ask for Ryan

Both of these two specialize in 60 Impala and Elky parts. One of them also restores stainless trim (holes, dings, scratches) - don't remember which one.

Hopefully they can help you out.

Good luck,

Dan

Thanks for the leads, will let you know what I find. If you happen to stumble across any pieces that are not drilled, keep me in mind.

Hey Jake,

I will let you know. I also have a 60 and my moldings have lots of holes in them, so I am looking as well . . .

I talked to dkosm@cs.com and he said if he had some without holes he can make them look very nice, but the ones with holes he fills, yet you always see the spots. Also I called "The El Camino Store" in Goleta, Ca. 805-681-8164 and they have reconditioned ones in stock, but need ones WITH OUT holes in return. The complete set exchange from them is $750.
I was wondering since these are stainless steel, why not weld the holes up with either wire feed or braze and then have them rechromed? Would it cost as much as $750? but if they are bent or dinged or dented, perhaps after the holes are welded up, send them to "The El Camino Store" and have them straighten them out, get them back then have them rechromed. Some options to think about. There are some pieces on Ebay that are not drilled, but only the corners. I have a friend that I called and he is checking to see what he has, will no more by the end of the week. Thanks for all the input.

By the way, I have a NOS oval emblem in OEM Box for the center of the grill that is for the 283 powered car, will trade for the same emblem that is for a 348 powered car.
