Its a great feeling ain't it!
I couldn't do the open headers, Its just too loud for my taste.
I am about to do some necessary repairs on my 76 along with some upgrades. Ignition and a serpentine system. I ran across one someone had pulled off their truck and they only wanted $75.00 bucks for all of it including the Alternator, water pump and fan, PS pump and AC compressor. I just couldn't let that pass me by.
So shortly I'll feel the same way again. I remember the excitement after putting in the 383 I built it was great!
Good luck! and Congratulations.

I can't find a serpentine system for a small block Chevy without the water pump. I'm putting an electric one on.

Open headers may sound good at first but it would get old fast! A good exhaust system can make it sound so much better. Congrats dude!

Got mine running too.. Same day if it was this sunday.. felt so good but mine didnt start that well; had to jump her and stuff because the battery was dead. Sounds good though. Open headers? i cant imagine running open headers.. i only have half an exhaust system on (cut it in the middle becuase it needed to be replaced and was in the way of removing my shocks) and its too loud for me to hear people talking...
cant wait to get her on insurance and back out on the road

I am sure about a 30minute cam break in was fun with open headers 8O
