Dumb question, I couldn't find it in a search, but what are the differences between the Elkie and the Caballero. I'm getting a 1987 Caballero, and was wondering. What were their costs new? I know Elkies that year were over seven times more abundant, but nowadays. What makes my car special besides the fact that it's mine? I've got buckets too, how rare are those?

Same exact vehicles, different badging.
El Camino = Chevrolet
Caballero = GMC Trucks
I guess I've seen less than 50% of the 5th gen Elky/Cab with bucket seats. I think bucket seats look sportier but I'll take a bench seat with an arm rest any day for long trips.
Base price in 87 for a V8 Caballero was $10,500.

Alright, my suspicions were true. Equivalent cars like Mercury Sable and Ford Taurus instead of the Lexus ES300 and Toyota Camry. Just as I thought.
So I guess, my car's about one in 900. Not too bad :P

Tom,
Now days your truck might just end up being one in 2000. Its been a long time since 1987, almost twenty years and during that time a lot of Elkys have found their way to the "Big Road" in the sky! :D

sad but true, it's a good point Elkypete. maybe just using the 2500+ members we can see how many of them have GMs vs. Chevys. Just to see what kind of percentages we've got. waddya think?

I think that'd be an awesome idea! I'd just love to know how rare my baby is.

I figured it was around 30 percent had buckets cause most what I have seen started life with a bench. I am glad mine started life with buckets.
