When talking about vehicle transporters, you can't use 'cheap' and 'professional' together. Have you checked into renting a car dolly from a U-Haul or other rental place for one-way, and tow it home yourself? Most pro transporters charge by vehicle weight and distance to transport.

Try DAS Auto Shippers, I've used them several times and always had a good experience. Some hints on saving money:
- Don't use brokers, use a company with their own trucks
- If you can drop the vehicle off at the terminal and pick it up at the destination terminal, this will save about $200 in door to door pick up and delivery costs.
- Don't buy their insurance, use your own, just check with your agent that you're covered.
- Tell the shipper you don't care if it's placed on the lower level of the transporter, the top level is always more expensive.
