Just to be clear on this, I am not trying to break any rules here. I'm asking this because a person in my area is offering me $1500-$2000 for my El Camino, and I was hoping someone could take a look at the pics and see if that would be a fair price. Thanks!

Just so you'll know, you can post photobucket pics directly like this:

1,500-2k seems good to me if your Elky has good solid floors.

you need to tell us what was done to the engine. Pics do not show if there is rust or not. Price seems okay or low...

You did not give a lot of details but if I were buying it I would be concerned about the paint job, the vinyl roof (they rust under them). Not knowing any more details it is hard to say. My Elkie was in much better shape and I bought it for 1800.00 cash. Wish I could be more helpful.

PRO
307ci with Edelbrock valve covers
automatic on the column
Edelbrock 4bbl 650 carb
14" Edelbrock air cleaner with K&N filter
Headers going to FlowTech Purple Hornies mufflers
Converted to HEI ignition
Mild street cam (Lunati)

CON
Black primer with minor surface rust
Slight bubbling under vinyl top
Speedometer and interior lights not working - might need rewiring and check on the speedo cable

Can't really tell if the floors are rusty, but they seem really solid. That's about all I know.

In this economy $1500 for a non running project car with engine trans and drivetrain of unknown condition is GOOD MONEY. When you watch what's happening at Barrett-Jackson this year with cars selling for less that 1/3 of what it costs to build it,,,,, it's one of those deals of if you need to sell it, that's seems to me as a very good price for what I see in the picts. Not that it isn't worth more to someone,, it's just that in this market few have $2k to throw down on a project. It may be a while before you get another offer.

I'm DIEING to go to barret jackson. I keep seeing all these insane prototype GM cars go through for cheap... like under 20K for that 96 impalla SS wagon with a 6 speed...

They always say it would be HARD to get it registered on the streets... but i've never heard impossible. I think I'm def. going to the auction when it comes back to FLA. I'll bring a camera in case they have any elco's.

Oh, it does run. I use it as my DD. I'm just selling it because I can't really handle the gas as opposed to a 4cyl anymore. Runs well, doesn't smoke, loud as heck.

It's a great experience. What about the 86 Elky that sold for $26K the other day?

Forgot to mention that if I sell it, it has a good amount of spare parts to go with it. Brand new headliner, door bushings, handle for the tailgate, heat shutoff valve, etc. Still can't make up my mind though. ><

2600.00 would be a Fair asking price

Too Funny... I just went on eBay to see what others were going for... I see your auction ends in an hour or so. With a starting bid of 2000 I don't think you are out of line. Without any bids though, that's not a great sign but there is a good chance some folks will submit their bids at the last minute. If that offer was from a prospecitve eBay buyer, I wouldn't give in for at least a few days after the auction ends. Sometime folks watch and when they see it doesn't sell then they might try to contact you for a private sale.

I'm guessing that the body of the car is solid through out considering it appears to be a texas car. I don't think you would find one as good in New England for that price.

The picture without the engine isn't helping... If you do need to relist it, give it a good cleaning, shine up the chrome, tires, tidy up loose ends etc... and then take pictures with a more appealling bacground... gotta give folks a little imagination to work off of.

Nah, North Carolina car. I was just noticing today how similar the flags looked lol. Yeah, the offer was from a local guy who saw the eBay listing and thought it was too high. I'll definitely take better pics if I do have to relist it, though.

If you were offered $1500, then you should take it while you still can! JMO:nanawrench:

I would take it for sure! Your not going to get anyone to buy it from you for that price again!
