Hey guys I need some help here. I'm basically starting from scratch with my system. This is what I'm thinking of going with: Alpine iDA-x305 head unit (i never play cds), 1 JL Audio 12in Sub 12W0V2, the OCCHV13-12 sub box from sonicelectronix.com, Blaupunkt GTX693 6x9 behind the seats and Blaupunkt PCX352 3.5" for the dash. I have no clue on an amp, I've never built a system like this before. Any suggestions? Also if I should go with different speakers etc... the only things im pretty set on is the box and head unit. Thanks guys

alpine pdx 4/100 or pdx 5 would be real nice amps for you

Well first what I would do is find a local speaker store who sells the speakers you want and hear them. Then go from there. Sometimes the sound is not to good in your ears and you might not like it. So I say that you should hear it first. Then while your there you should get a look at amps

Ron- is it really worth it for a 4 or 5ch amp for the speakers or just go with a mono for the sub and let the head units built in amp power the 3.5s and the 6x9s?

Brad- unfortunately around here there arnt really any places i can think of that carry anything other than infinitys, pioneers, sony etc... and ive heard them and im not too impressed.

i go for more quality over quantity, with amp providing equal power to all speakers you have a better ability to balence it all out for best sound.with the pdx5 you have 75 going to each speaker plus 300 to your sub for a nice full sound.going with a mono you have all the power just to sub and it drowns out your speakers most the time.
in my pt i have a 1200 watt mono amp just for sub with head-unit powering my speakers and yeah i get it to hit good but just doesn't have that full satisfying sound.i would much rather have gone with a multi ch amp for the full sound with the bass being there without killing the other speakers

try the three dog night song "one" on a good system set up both ways(mono vs multi ch) and you will see what i mean.also for some great music on a system "sisters of mercy" sounds kick-***

go to a good store with displays set up both ways and check it out.lower wattage with multi channel but much more sound
really just my opinion so .....take it as you may
