Is there supposed to be a carpet or cover on a 3rd gen like the 5th gen have? Maybe mine is just missing? All i know is the spare needs to be hidden!

If the 3rd generation is 70-72 then there is not a cover on the rear wall. Just the same metal shared with the bed - so don't dent it. The spare has a vinyl cover.
