hey everyone i am new here, let me tell you about my self.
i am 25 yrs old,i am originally from ohio, but i live in Northern VA right now because i am a SGT in the USMC i work at quantico. i am a grunt(infantry) soon i hope to get out after 8 yrs in and become a cop.
i currently do have a 87 el camino 4.3l v6, (i know i know...) but it was my first car i ever had and it was awesome. i will post pics asap. the 87 el is currently in ohio in a garage/barn rusting away because my parents won't part with it(even though it is technically my car)they have plans for it! but that is o.k.
i have always loved the EL and now it is time to get another !! i am currently looking for one, and in about 6-7 months from now i will be able to buy one. i hope to learn alot here and gain some friendships too!
as soon as i get the pics of my el camino i will post pics. thank you
Tommy

Welcome to a great site. Why don't you rebuild, restore the 87 you have now?

i would LOVE to, but as i said above my parents have it and won't sell/give/lend/anything with it, it is just sitting there and when my dad retires he wants to restore it, or something to that affect!

Welcome to ECC/NECOA Mike!
Once you're bitten by the El Camino bug, you're never the same again. Good luck on your search for another one. Before you decide on one, make sure you post several pictures of it here so we can give you our free, no-obligation, unbiased, whole-hearted, and brutally-honest opinion of it.

Hey dude,
I would love to sell you your first "real" El Camino with a V8 engine, A/C, stereo and everything......I got em all - restored/needing restored/rare/not so rare/junk/and jewels......I don't know why but I just bought 2 more
Anyways, I am from No. Virginia....My first job was at C&M Machine Shop off of RTE1 in the woodlawn area, and my sister still lives in Lake Ridge, right down the street from you and I visit her quite often....
I would be glad to help a good ol boy in uniform grow a set of balls and help him get a nice SS or something....
just tell me when your bonus hits!

Nothing wrong with a V-6, especially one from 1987 when you have fuel injection!! If you go and get a V-8, sell me your current engine - I am in Ohio.

Hi and Welcome!!!
Those 4.3L V6's will not die there is nothing wrong with them. Mine burns rubber better than the V8 I have.

I know how your parents feel about their Elky. I feel the same way only I try not to let mine sit and rust away. I too still have the very first "New" car I purchased. Its a mind thing only my first was not an Elky it was a Car. I had others before that and some were classics, I was a stupid kid back then and got rid of them most to Junk Yards. But the First New Car had some strange hold on me so I can imagine what it would be like if it had been an El Camino! 8O
Good Luck on your quest for fire!

Welcome to ECC! I'm just down the road from you in Fredericksburg. There's a used car dealer nearby who just put up pictures of a 72 on their web site. I haven't had a chance to look it over, but I figured since you're looking you might want to go check it out. They are located by the Wendy's on Rt. 1 near the I-95 exit.
