I am trying to get my 79 restored. I am having trouble locating a foam kit for the 50/50 bench. Dixie MC has the seat my cover: http://www.dixiemontecarlodepot.com/items/DM01058.html but no foam to be found. Also, I am trying to find a stereo kit so I can run a newer style radio. Can some one help me out? I have found all the other interior wants/needs but these 2 still are unresolved.
Thanks, :poke:

As far as I know no one makes seat foam for G bodies. I have seen radio adapter plates though. Try ebay?

I used a Retro Stereo in my 85, it has all the updated goodies in it , you can hook up your IPOD, amp ect. I'll look up the link for you and send it when I find it You can also check it out on the El Camino store's web site. great system, good part about it is the was no cutting of the dash at all.

For the foam, I think the easiest thing to do is go to an upholstery shop and have them re-foam the seats. Maybe even have them re-cover the seats if its too difficult, which really shouldn't since Dixie is providing the tool and clips.
As for newer radio, there really isnt a kit for the car. As you can see when you remove the radio panel/bezel, there are two metal squares attached to the front frame (under frame that holds the dashboard). These squares have holes meant for the "two-knob radios". So unless you remove/shave these plates/squares, you wont fit a single-din radio (what I think you mean by newer radio).
If you do decide to remove these plates, then there are plenty of kits that have the universal single-din kit which will fit the ElCo.

Thanks for the quick responses, I'll try the rod interior guys on Monday. I have spoke with a couple of local interior shops and they want $1,000 just to refoam. As for the radio it looks like I'll be going retro from crutchfield and the like.
