Way back when I was in school, I always had a hot rod of somekind so I was called Motorhead, the nickname stuck. I'm not sure when the spelling was changed from Motorhead to Moterhead, I think that one of my grandsons did that,so I kept it that way.

In 86 when I bought my Buick Regal T-type, I was on the drag strip most every weekend running in F stock automatic....There was a young fellow there with a 69 350 powered vette also running F stock automatic and every time we met he had to load it up afterwards. I overheard a conversation between him and his friend in the men's room about when he was coming back and he said "not as long as that old coot in the damn Buick was there":dontknow:......I was 39 at the time but have been "old coot" on all my online forums every since...................Dan

WAAAAY BACK...MANY MANY MOONS AGO...When personal computers and the internet first came into general personal usage, I signed up with a local ISP for my first dial-up connection to the internet. When they asked me what I wanted for an e-mail name/address, I hadn't a clue so I just told them to stick an "m" in front of "email" and make it "memail." However, using harris5898 (http://www.elcaminocentral.com/member.php?u=14482) 's method, I guess my user name should really be rupell1 (Yup, it's a cop thing) !

Gaviota

My test run for new HP engines is north from SoCal to Gaviota and Vandenburg AFB area, about 400-450 miles round trip, past famous surf spots like Rincon and County Line, as well as a selection of car-name cities such as Laguna, Malibu, and Ventura.
Can't drive to Catalina, though...
Gaviota is a fairly undeveloped area along the Pacific coast.
If anything's going to break or start making noise, it'll show up on that trip, and the engine is broken in by the time you get back.

In Santa Barbara I stop at Bob Joehnck's. He organized the very first actual drag race ever held, and figured prominently as a consistent winner in NHRA history. It's worth looking him up and reading about him.

This is one of the original 1920s-built bridges. It is just barely wide enough for two Model T type cars to pass in opposite directions, but no wider.
In the 20s there was a terrible accident here, with help 6-8 hours away in those days. The husband died in the wreck on the bridge, and the wife was so lonely that she came back later and jumped off the bridge at the site of the wreck.
Now it is said to be haunted. I don't believe in that stuff, but let me tell you that when I took this picture there was a woman's voice singing and weeping into the wind. I searched for her, thinking she was homeless to give her some of our food. Despite our best efforts, she was never found. The singing continued for the entire time, and every time we got close the voice moved.
It started to get pretty scary. We searched very thoroughly, and the voice was never more than a few feet away, no matter where we searched. My daughter was frightened badly, and I found out later that the voice has been there for over 75 years, and even the state engineers were unable to find the source (thinking it was wind thru the bridge structure) despite trying many times over the generations.

It's been my Handle for the past 45 or so years. Was originally
just Coyote, Then after I started ridding Harley's, 37 years ago, the ON2 was added.
As for how the TAG was given to me way back then, well it
was discussed on here a while back. And due to the nature
that this is a family site, I'll just leave it there, and won't get
into it or bring it up again.

Most of the things I`ve grown up enjoying...I still do...but slower....and a few take a little while to "get over".

A friend asked me to join him on a 450 mile Airboat trip down the Brazos river from
North Texas to the Gulf of Mexico. In order to upload pics/video to chronical our trip
I joined the Southern Airboat forum....it was apparently one of those days where i was feeling my age (50) so when they asked for a user name....Hasbeen felt about right.

here`s a sample of what I mean when I say "a few take a little longer to get over"
this kinda stuff was more fun at 30 years old than 50

Maddening
02-24-2010, 08:19 PM
When I was a kid in the 80's I got into online BBS's and they had what they call MUDs, Multi-User Dungeons. I wanted a name that would sound kinda cool and scary, kinda like "The Maddening is coming." As if I was some force or entity that would come and turn you crazy/insane/scared inside the dungeon I guess, or something... I dunno, I was 14 or so at the time and it sounded cool. Somewhere along the line I shortened it by dropping "The" from the name, and Maddening it is and has been... People sometimes think it's odd, and yeah, it is, but it's stuck with me since I was a teen, so I just keep using it, I've seen much odder usernames, so no biggie. :poke: I think there was a book and movie with the same name in the 90's but they sucked.

In California state history, the Spanish built roads that connected all the missions from as far south as San Diego all the way north to San Francisco. The 600 mile highway was named, "El Camino Real" -- or translated, "The King's Highway". Since my El Camino is a '69, and El Camino is "the Highway". Highway 69 sounded cool.

Steelybill; a steel guitar player and builder since the late 40s. I started using the name on music forums to begin with. The name "Steely Dan" of the rock music genre was partly where the combo name came from. I still build lap steel guitars and tube type amps, but not so much while restoring the El Camino. Our interests gradually change over the years. Fooling with cars has always been in the mix. Since I'm still a pilot, I could have used "Buzz Job Bill":nanawrench: Buzz jobs are low flying where it's not really legal. I did bend a few times.

When I got the elky my intention was to fix it up for my son, now 6. this will give me plenty of time (LOL). His name is Harley and M is last initial. i think by then he will have to fight me for it when he's able to drive.

Back in high school I had the nickname of CRASH for the many accidents I was in, mostly with stationary objects. I did not want to somehow jinx my accident free decade+ (knock on wood).

I have since passed that nickname onto my wife. Just recently reinforced this by rear ending her car into my truck in our drive way. She better be glad it wasn't the cruck! This is like her third time to back into something causing more than $500 in damage. What can u do?:dontknow:
