Before I start ---- CHILL OUT!!!!!!!!!!!
During the last multiple discussions about the '10 calendar someone popped off and said they could get them printed if they just had the pictures. I have a suggestion:
1. Someone who is more computer savvy than I am step up and volunteer to co-ordinate this deal.
2. Robert, forward the entries for the original 2010 calendar to said volunteer.
3. Lets do an 18 month calendar, July '10 through December '11.
4. If there are not enough QUALITY entries for 18 months we could open up the "contest" again for a short period to add a few more crucks.
5. Anyone interested in purchasing said calendar could "prepay" so whoever made the mistake of volunteering wouldn't get stuck funding this deal or get stuck with a bunch of unsold calendars.

Suggestions welcome - BS KEEP OUT.
I would STILL like to have a calendar!

Works for me just as you stated and I believe there is enough for 18 months form last voting. PRE- SALE once the Ok is in and results are released.

DO A POLL with this as the only way to do the calendar no alternate suggestions, see what happens.

Seems to me Tuggy is already doing a calender. He got entry photos from ECC members and folks are voting on the entrys now on his site through March.

Maybe I'm wrong but I suspect the real problem might be that ECC now has different owners. What if we did a NECOA calender?

The calendar would belong to the members, it's irrelevant who "owns" ECC. Not sure if, ow what, Tuggy is doing. This is a separate, volunteer project. We need the person who previously voluntered to step back up and Robert to forward the pics.

Another option is to upload the pics to a calendar on cafepress.com it won't cost a penny to set up and people can at least buy a calendar. I'd be willing to do it and the proceeds can go to NECOA for Carlisle expenses.

Still need the results of the voting and I do not see one reason why he will not let the membership help or do it! at this point. Leo that is a good idea also then any proceeds go to better the members that attend a function of NECOA and ECC.

Leo, that's an excellent idea.

BTW, Tuggy is doing a calendar on the Elky Nation site, but there's no reason we couldn't do a NECOA based benefit calendar for the big Carlisle meet as well.

Great Robert! Will it be the CafePress idea or some other provider? Lets be sure the proceeds go to NECOA's "show kitty" in any case.

What show kitty is this? Is this one that all members are going to be able to benefit from? For most of us Carlisle will probably never happen since it is on the other side of the country. Are you planning something centrally in the states?

I'm speaking of Carlisle for now but if enough can be raised then there's no reason why funds can't be made available for other events. It all hinges on what we can make by various fund raising efforts. Personally I still think membership dues (with appropriate benefits) is the ideal way to go so we don't have to keep asking for money to pay for Carlisle.

Personally I think asking the whole site to support Carlisle is wrong. For the amount of members here there is a VERY limited amount that will get to there and asking them to pay for for others just is not right. Whether it is from dues, calendars or anything else.

I think you have to think about it this way Poltergeist (http://www.elcaminocentral.com/member.php?u=3) that LEO has to pay for the trophies and tent. He is doing this for the whole community and trying to make this event the best for all of us. All he is asking is that we use some of the proceeds raised from the calender and from the dues we have to pay to use some of the features towards the El Camino central meet. I know some of us will not be going since you live on the other side of the country, but we do have a lot of us coming from different states to the event. So he is putting a lot of time and money into making this event the best it can be by talking to the People at Carlisle for us and making sure we are all setup with classes and have a good parking spot. He does a lot of behind the scene work that most people on here that go do not know. So he is just asking if he can get some help from us to take some of the birdon off of him financially since he is doing this out of the goodness of his heart.

Also he is not making anyone contribute to the event at all. He is just asking nicely since it does cost a little for are organization to meet plus all of the added accouterments he is making/getting for us like trophies and a tent.

What Tuggy said is basically correct, also, keep in mind that almost every club that comes to Carlisle has to raise funds somehow. Most clubs consider Carlisle their "annual meeting" and it's open to everyone. No matter where the meeting is held there is going to be a someone who can't make it, it's a big country after all. If a club charges annual dues a portion goes to fund this annual meet, it's just the way it's done.

Carlisle expenses are not huge and since NECOA charges no dues we need to find the funds somewhere.

Not my Bar-B-Que, by any means, and it's all good.
I have to agree with Rob on this one. The Site has
Members WORLD WIDE, some Supporters, some not.
And that's good also.
Now if there were Regional Dues, or Local Club Dues,
that would be an option to consider putting on the Table
for a Vote of it's Members.
I think what you HAVE ALREADY DONE, "placing a Thread
with a Request for Donations", should, I would hope,
Generate enough responses to help offset the costs for,
shall we say EXTRAS. If the Members that have attended
in the Past have had a good time, and have the means,
see that funds are a little tight this year, they may reach
a little deeper in their pockets. Unfortunately, the economy
is bad all over, and has effected most areas / walks of life.
I'm also in belief, that you will be able to generate / collect
DONATIONS on site, if you provide the provisions for doing so.
With all the work, I can only imagine how great the costs
are, for these extras. Maybe this should, and most likely will,
be considered for next years event.

This in no means, is meant to create, or start a debate,
it is only an opinion, like some other things, Everyone has one.

The way this works in most cases is the show is a great thing and most come for the group or the show itself, because they want to and can. The Florida group does it several times a year on a small scale of 10 to 20, and a few of us go to these events every year anyway. One guy just collects from each attending member if there is a need and the guys choose to help out by passing the jar and then it goes to the guys that have expense. We have done it a couple of times out of 10 events, but most of the time we meet because we want to do it for our friends and hobby and the show is worth going to for whats there. Truthfully we have guys who just show up with goodies and pass it out and they wont take anything, the show expenses are apart of the experience and part of being a planner or go between, Are group is lucky as several guys will do things and that makes everything easier. One show is no more important then another I would go to Carlisle in a minute if a could handle it but its 1200 miles one way and would take a years worth of show money so that would be a no for me, but it is the best show or one of the best I know of, so good luck LEO and to all that go drink one for our group.

...Have a bake sale, or a car wash, or a raffle to raise the rest of the funds you need.

Seriously?
