Ok, I may be missing something so those of you that have changed to buckets jump in here
I got a set of camaro seats, but I don't see how changeing tracks will work because it looks like the track is intragal to the seat back bracket plus they are bolted to the sides of the seat and there does not appear to be enough meat to bolt on G body tracks
HELP:dontknow:
I have pics and as soon as may membership level, yes I now suppot this site along with a great many others and consider it money well spent, gets adjusted I will post
Thanks

Not to discourage you but you mite want to sell them and find the right seat's to fit your Elky, I don't think any seat's newer that '87 will fit right without a hole lot of Modifying...

You should be able to find a good set from any G-Body '82 to '87 that will bolt right up into your floor...

I understand the bolt in stuff but there are a lot a guys going with newer camaro/firebird seats that look really good. I was just suprised to see the side mounted tracks when I got these. Just don't want to reinvent the wheel when it has already been done.

Millard, you are right. Someone will chime in pretty soon. This will also be very useful to others who are not using bolt in seats. (like me)

Howdy, I know what your are dealing with and it's not that hard to take care of. When I get off of work I'll sent you a post on how I did mine. It just depends on the seats, tracks and what mounts you already have in your ride. I'll get back with you tonite.

This is how I did the seat swap in my Elki. Some might think it was a little much but it worked for me.

I removed the old bench seat and carpet from the ctruck. Once the seats and carpet were out, I removed the old seat mounts with a air chisel except for the front left mount on the drivers side. This took about 30 minutes and was really easier than I thought.

The next step was to place the new mounts http://www.dixiemontecarlo.com/items/DM00572.html
onto the seats and set them in place where I wanted then using the remaining seat mount as a guide and then marked there location.

After this I removed the mounts from the seat and welded them in place.

While I had everthing out I also welded the bolts for the center console to the tranny hump. 5 bolts to hold the console. Replaced the padding, carpet, bolted everything in. The whole thing took about half a day.
I don't have any photo's for you right now, I am re-placing the padding, dynamat and carpet in a couple of weeks and I will be more than happy to take some photos of everything for you and post them.
If you have excess to a mig to tig welder or have a friend who can do the welding for you it helps.
I have heard that some folks have just drilled more holes eather on the mounts or the floor board and were happy with it. I just a little to anal for that.
I used buckets out of a 92 Camaro with high backs and head rest. I didn't like the bench seats because my big old tatter whould hit the back window, if I ever got into a crash I would have busted out the rear glass with my head, the glass cost to much to replace for that to happen!!
Like I said some folks might think this was a little much, but for me I was a fun job to do, they look great and I feel the mounts are just as strong as the factory ones or better. The mounts cost $75, bolts for the counsole $3 , the counsole is out of a S10 and cost $10.00 at LKQ ( local bone yard ) just be sure and get the mounts with it. Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions
