If you get a chance look at the rear suspension mod on a 71 Elky and also the article on the 59 Elky in the same issue of Chevy High Performance for April 04.

Are you talking about the truck-arm set up? That is probably the single best suspension mod you can make to these chassis. Nascar has been using that exact setup for 30 years. I can't wait to get mine done.

You can purchase the entire kit from Hot Rods to Hell for about 1800. I little pricey for me, I'm going to build my own, it consists of Nascar ruck arms and and a custom built crossmember. Just installing this setup will reduce 60-0 braking distance by about 50 feet 8O

Wow I could use that. The brakes on my Elky are pretty bad and I haven't had the time or money to invest in fixing them. But of course I don't have the time or money to invest into this 1800$ Truck Arm kit either :-D .

The HTH Elco reduced its stopping distance from 60 by 82 feet just changing the rear suspension and front spindles/upper arms/springs. They say 50 feet just doing the back half is norm. It alters the point in the vehicle where instant center occurs, instead of the rear brakes only stopping the rear 15%of the car they actually get to work and stop about 30% of the weight. If you have any fab skills you can put this together yourself for around ~300-400. I'll put all the details on my homepage as I aquire parts and start assembly.
