I just bought 1987 and the first thing I want to do is buy wheels and tires for it. I would like to know what stock chevy wheels will work without any problem. I'm looking at 15 or 16 inch. I see alot of people have monte carlo and s10 wheels. Can someone give me some guidence please?
Thanks

Greetings!
Basically you are looking at anything with a 5 x 4.75 inch bolt pattern. Try to stay around the 4.5" backspacing if you can since it simplifies things. Here are some common ones:
Camaro IROC wheels.....beware of the rears....they have 5.25" backspacing and problems
S10......I have them on mine with no problems except that the center bore may have to be bored out a touch to fit
Monte Carlo SS wheels 86-88 (or so)....bolt on and have a nice day
Take it from there and have a good hunt.....post photos...

This is the most common question asked in this forum. Use the search function, type in "backspacing" and you'll find all the information you need on wheel and tire fitment.

there are any number of choices as long as you have the right bolt pattern....look at all the ECs with 20s, obviously it cant be that difficult to fit smaller wheels. the problems usually start with tire choice...:poke:

Iroc's (Front's only) are a good choice. I like the later version S10 ZQ8 wheels myself, in 16". They are hard to find used, but can still be bought new as a set from Summit, Jegs, Pace, etc, with centers and lug nut covers, for around $600.

This is the 15" s10 rim. They don't look too bad either, and are readily available. Just be sure to get the centers with the wheels, and the lug nut covers.

After a lot of discussion with forum members, I ended up with 15x8, Trans Am "SnowFlake" wheels, 235x60 front and 255x60 rear. Had to use 1/8" spacer on the backs, but worked out pretty good.

Wheels are finally on toward the end of th series.

If you go with 16" Camaro or Firebird wheels stick with the "fronts". They are marked on the inside of the wheel as to either "front" or "rear". Also, this only applies to 82-92 F-body wheels. 93 up have the wrong off set for a G body with out spacers.
