How can I remove the two tone trim without damaging it? Is there a special tool or some trick? I will not reinstall it but I am sure their is someone out there who can use it.

I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) but if you inspect underneath the trim there should be some clips holding them on. Just take a screwdriver and CAREFULLY nudge them loose. I am also a 4th generation owner, email me if you would like to name a price for the trim.

I've found that both this tool (http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/pro_det.asp?P65=&tool=all&item_ID=12783&group_ID=1785&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog) and this tool (http://www.yearone.com/serverfiles/part.asp?pid=T82&c=0&e=0&cat=0&hid=023AN48054) work fairly well for removing moldings. They have a lever shape to them as opposed to a flat shape like a screwdriver and they end up just popping the moldings off instead of you fighting with it and marking up the paint/body and making a mess of the molding. There will be clips holding them on. What holds the clips to the body are studs which you'll need to grind off and smooth over.

If I remember correctly you just need to slide the trim to the first clip in either direction. The trim has an open spot on either end, pull the trim away from the body and over the first clip. The slide the trim down to the next and to the next repeating the removal each clip until its off. The corner trim on the bed comes off through the access panels on each side of the inside bed at the back, can't miss them. Remove the panels and reach up with a 3/8th (I'm pretty sure its a 3/8th) remove the retaining nut then the trim. 2 places on each corner if I remember right. One for the top trim and one for the side trim.

The doors have screws on either side of the long door trim. Phillips screws that are often very hard to get started. Remove each end screw and slide the trim like on the rest of the body. The fenders are more difficult. You need to remove them to remove the trim from them. The front "L" trim cam be removed with or with out the fenders on, you'll have to move the bet around some to get to that side.

Top rails are clipped over I used a screw driver on those. Window and windshield, your on your own there, I had a hell of a time with those still not sure how I got that apart.

Good Luck

Thank you for all of your help. I removed most of the trim yeserday with no damage. Now I have the pleasure of removing the front fenders. FUN!

At least I am not putting it back on.

When I was removing my trim the small piece of Long Trim, along the side of the truck, the clips for it were so old and weathered some crumbled to tiny pieces.

The Trim along the bottom (Rocker Panels) are also held on by phillips screws on either side inside the door jamb. You probably already know this bu now. Again to remove the front piece on the fenders the fenders have to com off.

I used a Polishing compound and a HS Buffer to polish up the Rocker panels. I have thought about buying some of the Stainless Steel 3" Wide tape to cover the rocker panels. Mine are pitted really bad form rocks and road debris over the years.
