What all is the SS package on a 78 El Camino ??

To start with, they "don't" have:
v6 engines, side body chrome or wheel well chrome or rocker panel mouldings, chrome mirrors, or a bench seat(unless special order<ZP2>), whitewalls or factory wire hubcaps


What they typically "DO" have(unless otherwise ordered) is:
V8 motor, color keyed sport mirrors, bucket seats, factory tachometer,
A/C, lower accent paint stripe to match interior or that would complement the primary color if interior was the same as exterior, SS decals @ tailgate(lower right) and lower fender on accent stripe with pinstripe at the lower accent/upper body break line, a front spoiler/air dam, FM stereo, "El Camino SS emblem on dash, console with floor mounted shifter, automatic trans "or" rare 4 speed option, color keyed rally wheels, "special black paint treatment on grille and black quarter window moldings and v8 engine(usually 350) and 2.73 rearend........

Kewl, the one I'll be looking at early next week has a 305. Didn't know if a 305 was a option in the SS for 78. Was wondering if someone just added SS stickers.

EXTERIOR:
~ Bright Appearance Items: Delete wheel opening and rocker panel moldings.
~ Front Air Dam: Painted lower body color.
~ Mirrors: Sport type, LH and RH, painted upper body color.
~ Ornamentation: "Super Sport" decals on lower portion of doors and on tailgate. Vinyl pinstriping to cover paint break lines.
~ Quarter window moldings: Black
~ Paint: Accent paint color on lower body.
~ Rally Wheels: Painted to match lower body color.

INTERIOR:
~ Ornamentation: "El Camino SS" nameplate on instrument panel above glove compartment door.

It was not necessary to have a V8 to get the Z15 option. The Super Sport model includes all items listed for the Standard El Camino model plus the above additions or substitutions. Bucket seats, center console, A/C, V8, tachometer, and FM stereo were separate options and were not included in the Z15 package.

Also a blacked out grill. My 78 SS came with a 350 4 bl. , but it is a seperate option.

is the SS with the bench seat pretty rare? i looked at a '81 SS that had a bench seat. too bad i didn't have the cash at the time... :-(

Yes, in 78-79 only. I copied the description from one of my previous posts which was quoting the 1980 Chevrolet Trucks Salesman "Pocket Price Guide".
