Would they be allowed to attend the el camino rallys or is it like a rival high school thing?:dontknow:

If one could make it, the owner would be the subject of intense humiliation and constantly getting made fun of. Chances are the owner probably would not enjoy himself very well.

Other than suffering from severe misdirection at some point in their life, the few Ranchero people I've met are pretty decent folks.

I have seen some pretty decent Rancheros in my time and I think it would be a great addition to any EC show , but than again what do I know I am Canadian.lmao

It's american, i drive a ford everyday, i dont have a major issue with it. I bash around on the forums, but in all honesty a car is a car. a truck is a truck. It doesn't make a huge difference to me as long as you enjoy your car that's what counts most.

Id love to see some Rancheros just to see some of the differences.

Personally i like the chevy parts availability/interchangeability one of the major reasons i picked the camino, as well as the sweet body lines. Buy me a ranchero & drop a chevy engine in there, only problem i'd have to really search to find a ranchero with a body style i like.

This isn't highschool ya'll, get over the rivalry it's just a cruck :poke:

I think we could get some Rancheros out there and show everyone why the El Camino is better.

Well, I am certain this will NOT endear me to many on the forum. When I first saw this posting I was pretty sure what the response would be, looks like I was correct. I must admit to being disappointed at the narrow mindedness of this viewpoint about cars other than Elkys. Truthfully, there is some of that bias in the Vette Club I'm in. Anyone who goes to the trouble and expense to keep a classic of ANY KIND is to be commended in MY OPINION. We all have common issues in all our efforts to maintain our vehicles, be them crucks, trucks, cars, Vettes, even Fords, they may even need more sympathy and help. MY OPINION is that we need to support ANYONE who is working to keep a classic on the road. Admittedly we are going to be much less help on things other than Elkys, but that doesn't mean we should shun other people. We are all in this together. There is even a possiblity that we could learn something positive.
Well, I've done it, think I huddle up and dodge a few arrows.
Hope everyone has a great week.

I Think most car people can appreciate another nice car whither its a ford, dodge or whatever, I have a Mustang in the driveway also, but if its a El Camino rally I think it shoudl be El Caminos only. I'm sure if it was a Rachero rally El Camino's would be out of place. but when I'm at a car show that has all types I like to check out an Ranchero along with all of the others.
I personally like all types of classic cars even classic station wagons, vans sedans etc.
they all have great qualities but thats just my opinion

I wouldn't mind a ranchero being there, as long as it wasn't stock. IMO, nothing american made newer than 1930 should be restored to stock. But I'm weird.

I've owned a 1967 Elcamino, a 1979 El Camino and a 1983 Elky, so I am definately an El Camino guy. But I also, many years ago owned a 1969 Ranchero and it was a nice ride. The Ranchero's after that seemed to bulky for me, but I did like the way the 69 looked and rode. So I wouldn't bitch if one came to an Elky outing.
Just my .02.

hopefully we all know that some comments were made in a joking manner (even though Im a chevy guy all the way) To bounce off of Elkyvettes comments, I do agree that any person who keeps a classic on the road is respectable. I actually saw a really nice ranchero about a week ago, the owner had obviously put a lot of time and money into it and thats very respectable. Now all that being said, I'd never buy one but if one was handed off to me I cant say I wouldnt have some fun with it.

I currently have a Thunderbird Super Coupe, a Buick Regal T-type and an El camino, I don't bring the T-bird to an Elcamino rally nor do I take the El Camino to a SCCOA meet---now car shows I can show up in any one or even on occasion all of them....Just wait until I get my 54 chevy five window pickup finished.............Dan

No disrespect but it is an Elcamino rally. But if someone wants to drive their Ranchero there to see the Elky's go for it. And there is one good thing Ford did, they circled the problem! J/K

Well, at least if they drive their Ranchero or Rampage there somebody might fix it for them. I.e. take the emblems off and put 'em on a Camino, lol. For those who would like to see either, I have pics of both Photos Here.

Well if it was an El Camino show it should be only el caminos, however why couldnt it be a "cruck" show?

wouldnt that be a good solution to all the problems? just make it a cruck show, El Caminos on one side, Rancheros on the other, and any rampage that shows up, can get the back row :-P

just kiddin'! be good to see them all though

All you ranchero blasters do realize that ford invented the "cruck" 2 years BEFORE chevy, right? First ranchero was 57 and they made them up to 79.
So if ford didn't have a hit on their hands in the late 50's and if chevy didn't play catch up, would there be any el caminos? Probably not. Don't hate what caused chevy to build 'em!

My 1st post was only a joke:smileyb: I wouldn't mind if some showed up if I was going.
One of my long-time friends had one, and I worked on it a few times for him. He didn't take very good care of it, and I hassled him about it. Don't remember what year it was.
Had a lot of the old flat head type Fords on the old days, and had all the tools to do flat head engines. But most of mine wound up with Olds, Cadilacs, and Chrysler hemis in them.

Some outfit a few years back made Chevy rocker covers with "Ford" on them, for guys who used Chevy engines in Ford street rods.:smileyb:

I remembered this topic when I saw this
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/3a/1966_Ford_Country_Sedan_%28Tailgate_Sideways%29.jp g/800px-1966_Ford_Country_Sedan_%28Tailgate_Sideways%29.jp g

I know of GM b body clubs that welcome Roadmaster, Caprice, and Custom Cruiser wagons, but surprisingly there actually must be a general wagon club. I wonder if they don't allow hearses, old ambulances, Bajas, or El Caminos with campers. Surely they don't allow crossovers haha.

Oh and I didn't see this pictured, Studebaker Coupe Express. I sure wouldn't mind having one of these, kind of looks like an old SSR. Now would an SSR be welcome at an El Camino meet?

I'm open minded, I think Rancheros should be allowed at all Elky shows...I wouldn't have to wait in line at the Port-A-Potty. Cmon what kind of question is this...of course not! If it was a car show where you can show anything, then of course...afterall they let Ricers and Rancheros at those shows...and I hate Ricers even more than Rancheros! Wow...Ricer Rancheros...kinda sounds like a breakfast cereal or something from Taco Bell...I think I'm on to some new marketing gimmick.
