could it be the tire tread rubbing on the wheel wells???? only in reverse??? may be the fan hitting the fan shroud...those would be my first guesses...........Dan

How about the tire catching on some sheet metal in the wheel well?
Just an idea.........
With the car sitting, turn the wheel like it was when the noise occurred, and get a look in the wheel wells.
Does it make the noise when moving, or when the wheel is turned without moving?
The steering should have nothing to do with your drive shaft.

Inner and outer? there is a difference, if you got them mived up you will be hitting the frame saddle area under the engine:beer:

If it only happens when you turn the wheels all the way, check your steering stops on the lower control arm. A little grease on the stops may solve your problem.

Get a buddy to watch your wheels and listen for you fresh eyes and ears are the best tool

maybe you should remove that 18 mm wrench from the lower ball joint stud:poke:
