has anyone found any cool elky-related stuff in a junkyard or anywhere else? i was at a local junkyard with a buddy looking for stuff for my other project and came across a caballero. i was looking inside it and found a caballero diablo dash emblem. i've never seen one before so it was a cool find for me.
also at another 'yard i found a license plate that says "1 MEANO". i have it hanging on the wall in my room now. anyone else find anything cool?

i dont know if this is under the cool topic but its freaky... there was a guy once restoring an old car.. her went to the junkyard and asked the shadetree mech. if there was that certain type of car there the tech nodded his head an pointed to the corner.. they guy walked to the car and was taking the pedal assembly off the vintage car wehen he noticed a shoe stuck between the gas pedal and the floorboard..
well he got the pedal assem. out and noticed that the shoe had a foot and part of a leg in it... i dont kno i heard this on the radio one day.. listenin to Bob And Sherri./.

I saw a 1980ish Elcamino??? in a yard one time that looks like it never got finished and got hauled away for scrap
It was actually a malibu wagon someone was trying to convert into crew-cab El Camino......they did pretty far on the basic body conversion but never painted it, put a drivetrain in it, or ground down the welds.......
it is like they stole the back and 1/4 windows and the upper body contour along with sections of the bed and the tailgate from some poor elky
it was pretty cool except the dually rear-end and full size chevy pu flares
if it wasn't so rotted, I problably would have dragged it home...my friend who's family owns the yard said they were paid to take it away by some old hag........

I have a friend who is friends with a local salvage yard owner. About a year prior to me buying my '85 elky on ebay I had asked my friend if his junk yard buddy had any El Caminos. He said no, and I believed him because he's always down there working on cars. About 2 months after buying my '85 I was at the junkyard pulling some parts for my old nissan pickup and was talking to the owner of the yard. He's an old guy and was getting very tired of dealing with cars so he had just "crushed out" as he called it. (Had a company come in, crush the majority of vehicles that were more than several years old, probably about 75%, and got paid by the pound for the steel). I asked him if he had an El Caminos (was just looking for bargains and parts) and he said that they just crushed 4 of them a few weeks ago. My heart sank.
He has two ancient Ranchero's stashed away behind his garage that he saved from the crusher if that tells you anything.
