i was at a junkyard today and found a 87 monte ss and it still had the gauge cluster in it. it had full gauges,tach and a 120 speedo. whats this worth? i didnt ask for a price because i wasnt sure if they know what they have or not...

it should be worth $50 to any junkyard, especially if you pull it....

I would hit him at 35 and you pull it first, because of course he is going to hit you high.....but the best part about a junk yard is the price should be negotiable, and even if they say "I can get 100 for it all day long", the fact of the matter is that you are actually there with cash willing to take it off their hands....they will try and close a deal

your instinct not to tip your hand and let them believe what they have is special is good, and you also want to act like you don't really need it but could find some use for it or know a friend that is looking...

your best bet is to ask the price on several things and throw it in the mix somewhere(but not first or last) and don't ever mutter the words SS, just say Monte Carlo.

To them, it is only worth what they can get for it

If it's in working order and you can buy it for less than $100.00 it would be a bargain. On Ebay I have seen similar guage packages go for $200.00 or more, not that I think they're worth that much but some people do.

just depends on who's pulling it and somepeople trip on the odometer reading....they definitely aren't making new ones anymore
