I am getting an 1987 elky for a parts car and can't decide if I should save the back glass, or sell it for the cash because my current back glass is still in good shape

you could sell it or hold on to it for an extra just in case...

Keep everything that is usable and/or in good shape. You never know when you might need it or even better yet, share with the group!

Well if you want to just give it to someone I am willing to take the back glass however I don't think you would be that willing since there is some value behind it. If I were you I would save it cause it is expensive to replace when you would need it. I parted one out a while back and still have the glass in the garage. So let us know what you do with it.

question to ask yourself, Do I have the space to store it safely?
if not, then sell it.
if so, it won't cost you to hang on to it.
I would save it myself, simply because it is a unique piece of glass, read expensive when needed.

a borken back window is one of biggest fears  , b/c it if so unique. i know that it would cost and arm and a leg to get one. if i had an extra it would be safely stored and heavily gaurded in my underground vault. :D

If you check around the glass shops I think you will find that the back glass is no longer available. I have a spare just in case.

The big motovation to sell it is that I don't have a really safe place to store it. If I was to sell it how much should I sell it for.

call the little red truck people, and find out what a replacement would be and go from there.

I need a back glass for a 1986 Elky. I was driving it yesterday about 50 MPH with both windows down and that thing exploded right in my ear and almost caused me to wreck. Glass went all over me and the seat and floor.

Now I learn that they may be hard to find. I have never heard of one breaking like this - has anyone else? All for no reason.

Any ideas on where to find one and what the cost should be will be apprciated.

Try the junk yards. From what I have been told by the glass companies is that they are no longer available new. Paid $100 for a spare back glasstwo years ago.

I appreciate your offer to sell me a back glass, however since I wrote the message I have already found four and have purchased one on e-bay for $ 41.00 plus shipping.

I have located three more still in the vehicles within just a few miles of my home.

Thanks,

Big Jay
