I recently inherited a 1977 El Camino with a Phoenix on the hood. Does anyone have any information in regards to this model?

As mentioned above, (if you read what wasn't said)
The 77 Model Year did not have the Phoenix available,
so someone, at some point in time, added it to your
El Camino. In 77, there were two Models available,
the Standard, and the Custom. Also available were the
two, as well as the four Headlight Front Group / Clip.:dontknow:

Being disable,I've got a lot of time on my hands,so,I was watching some old tv programs,and this is what I've learn;

Bewitch:they used Chevys. Samithia drives a real nice Carmero SS conv.and blue,
and Darrin drives a real nice Chevelle staiton wagon
white and wood grain inserts

Beverly Hillbillies; used Crysler, Miss Hathaway drives a real nice Charger.

Andy Griffin show; used Fords, if you look real close you'll see a nice 60 4 door Comet.

I just waned to put this out there for the younger groups..:cool1:

My car looks like the top photo. It is painted two colors. A "beigey" color on top and brown on the bottom. After further inspection, it does look like someone added the decals on at some point. It is actually stripping the paint on the hood! I'll post a pic. Thanks!

OK we already cleared this up, but I will say it again. He has a 77 that he already told us. Coyote already told us that someone put the Diablo sticker on his hood. They were not factory in any way in 77. They started making El Camino Diablo in 1978.

What you could do is turn it into a Diablo if you like. Just tell people that it is not a Diablo , but make it into one. That would be unique

one more question regarding the 1977 Camino. I keep hearing there was a "Lemon Year" for El Camino's. If this is true, what year might that be? Please don't tell me 1977!!!

I don't know about a "Lemon Year", though I do know that the fourth generation (1973-1977), of which you are a PROUD owner, is somewhat considered the "Bastard Stepchild". Primarily because there isn't as a selection and variety when it comes to aftermarket gear and such. Keep a vigilant eye out on eBay, you should be ale to find what you may be looking for, be SURE to read the description of whatever it may be you're looking at, VERY CAREFULLY and check the infamous Seller ratings! For the most part, people out there are good, it just takes a few A**holes to screw things up and make your life miserable! Have fun, enjoy your ride and welcome!!!:texas:

The "Fourth Generation", aka the "Forgotten Generation".

The most popular comments I hear are: Too big, too ugly and no variety. They followed the 60's muscle cars with their great lines and powerful engines and came before the classy fifth gens. Plus you could get them with the two tone. Not my favorite paint scheme. Still, I love 'em. I have two '73s.

It's really hard to figure out why they call 4th gens the forgotten generation when it was the highest production of any of the body styles.

Another thing comes to mind. If it had a TA style shaker scoop maybe it was somebody's attempt to put a little "bandit" into an Elky.
