Diablo

Guess I'll break in with a introduction.
My name is Alan and I'm an Elkyholic. Loved them forever but never got around to owning one though I've owned just about everything else.
I just bought an '84 Cabalerro. Now it has some oddities about it. It seems to have original paint though it has had substantial spray can touch up and is faded big time. It has a Diablo emblem on the severly cracked dash, I'm thinking someone might have put it there though since the RPO codes don't seem to be what they should be from what I've found out by searching the archives . The truck does have a front spoiler, 2 tone paint with no body moldings and a pinstripe seperating the 2 colors.
Something that is different is the data plate says Laquer. Anyone elses say that? 84 seems a bit late for laquer paint so I guess it special order? (set me straight if I'm wrong) Odd for a car that barely has any options. No bucket seats, no full gauges, just AM/FM, A/C, PS, PB.
My father had a Diablo (Caballero) new in 80 that had Caballero emblem on the dash. He also chose not to add the "gaudy" stickers, they sat in the attic forever and have since disappered. His was loaded to the hilt with ALL the options except C/B or 8 track. Oddly enough his came with side trim and hubcaps. Something I thought they weren't supposed to have from the factory (those were immediatly traded for a set of 79 Pontiac factory wires). 8O
Well, I've rambled on enough.
See Ya,
Alan
